hi...

need some expert help. i am open an excel file with a simple link as "<a
="file:///c:/inetpub/wwwroot/test.xls">"

no problem with this.
it opens in the same window (same explorer window) as my asp form is.
This is what i want so this is not the problem!
What happens is that when i open the excel workbook i have some data
being retrieved from the database and later when the user inputs some
values inside it and clicks button "SAVE" inside it i will save it in
the database directly thru vba code.

when i simply click the link and open the workbook and i click back
button it gives an informative message as:
"the document has been modified.Do u want to save the changes
yes: save your changes
no: discard your changes
cancel: keep this document open.

i simple want to supress this error message?? how can i do that?
i am using asp as the web langeuage

thanks a lot

Recently I ran a program called "3D Charts" for my Excel 2000. After having it on my toolbar under "Insert" I deleted the program (by running windows Add/Remove prgram).

Now everytime I open Excel it gives me the following message:
'C:aaabExcel 3D ChartsExport.xll' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct."

Can someone help me to get rid of this annoying message, as this pops up every time I open Excel.

Thank you.

Dear Experts,

I had used an addin DigDB in office 2007 and after that i reinstalled it. But now when i start opening a new Excel File it is showin the below mentioned error message.

cprogramDigDBDigDB.xla could not be found. Check the spelling fo the file name and verify that the file location is correct.

If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed,

moved, or deleted.

IN previous versions of excel I was using Tools, Addins and remove the addin and the above mentioned message will not displayed.

How can i do the same in Excel 2007 ???

I have two command buttons with VB code behind them. Recently the buttons
were dropped from the spread sheet, and I couldn't figure out why. I deleted
the buttons and code and recreated them in the VB editor with two new
buttons. I am still receiveng the same error message when I open my project,
which is:

"Can't exit desing mode because control 'commandButton1 can not be created"

When in the VBA editor there is a drop down box that has all of my controls
listed including the two I deleted. How do I remove them from that list?

Thanks

Hello.

I am a noob that is trying to create a super macro that consolidates all of my macros in to one (multiple people will be using it and will be confused with having to do multiple macros and which order to run them in). Essentially, I have to copy and paste data from a pdf invoice, paste it in to excel, then seperate all of the data. My first macro searches cells containing certain words and deletes the row. I have that macro down and it works properly. My next step is to cut and paste the first word from each column from its current cell to a new cell until I get to about the 4th entry within the cell (like text to columns, but more specific). I am currently using a macro I found on the internet; however, I can't use it consecutively. I can only run it once, then stop, select the new column, then run it again. When I attempt to have the macro select the column to be seperated, then seperate the first words, but when it gets to step two in the macro to continue about three more times, I get the error: Compile error: Duplicate declaration in current scope when it gets to the code in the macro, "DoAnyWay:", "nextrow:", and "terminated:". When I remove them, it kind of works but continues with a message box. I am also looking to see how to remove the message box so it can carry out and complete without having to click ok. Here is what the script looks like:

hi all,

i have a macro which is executing some cleaning up and then copying information from project sheets to a summary sheet.
the individual project sheets are (currently still manually) copied/moved into the big(ger) overview workbook. to support the work with the individual project sheets they contain a macro that is assigned to some (three) shapes.

one part of the cleanup is stripping the macros off the individual project sheets:

	VB:

For CurrentWS = 1 To SheetCount
    Worksheets(CurrentWS).Select
    ActiveSheet.Shapes.SelectAll
    Selection.OnAction = ""
    Worksheets(CurrentWS).Range("A1").Select
Next CurrentWS

If you like these VB formatting tags please consider sponsoring the author in support of injured Royal Marines
on the line "ActiveSheet.Shapes.SelectAll" i get frequently (not always... ) a run time error '7': out of memory.
it happens on at least two computers. i closed all other SW. according to the windows task manager information there should be plenty of memory free.

questions:
- how to get rid of the error message? OR:
- is there another (more smart) way to strip the ("imported") macros, while keeping the "main" marco alive that does not lead to an error message?

thanks for the support, florian

Greetings,

I'm hoping one or more of you guys can help me figure out how to go about making a macro to automate something that would take me an hour to do by hand. In my mind I'm thinking the ultimate goal of what I want may be too complicated or even undoable, so if someone has a different way to go about it I'm all ears.

Everyday at my job I generate a worksheet of data with 2 columns, one has a list of 3-character long error codes (Col A) and the other contains a list of error messages (Col B), the rows are sorted by error message with a header. What I want to accomplish here is to count the number of times each error message occurs in the one column, and wherever the total is calculated (I'm thinking next to the last occurrence of each error in Column C) I'd like it to list the error codes that occurred in any of the rows that it found a particular message. For example:

AB1 File corrupt
AB3 File corrupt
AB1 File corrupt
AB3 File corrupt 4 - AB1 AB3
AC1 File not found
AC2 File not found
AC1 File not found
AC1 File not found
AC5 File not found 5 - AC1 AC2 AC5

My goal is to use these numbers and the codes it finds to update and add counts to another spreadsheet that has a bunch of error messages accumulated over time (new system so new errors are always popping up) where I'll just enter the number by hand for each group of messages I already have in it, or add it to the list if it's a new error message.

Here's the rub though, these messages are not like above, they can get way complicated and many include references to long transaction codes that won't be the same between errors. Here's a couple groups of examples of errors I would like to be counted together but have text/numbers in them that would have to be removed/ignored to do the above:

No delivery for Order 6343633446
No delivery for Order 4882744453
Process not complete - timed out 4580356799
Process not complete - timed out 2325345623
Order 23555235 Reversed/Cancelled By 4322455235
Order 43423455 Reversed/Cancelled By 3242353252
No Match found for transaction N4HH381045B375/
No Match found for transaction G2352555G34355/
Code is L, address F53253 ...Picking request 20110331 for delivery
Code is L, address Q92241 ...Picking request 93882123 for delivery

And those are some of the more intelligible errors, they can get a lot more zany. I wish I could say unequivocally that numbers in the error message can be eliminated but like I said before I don't know what else is coming down the pike. That would be the only way I see doing this since they're mostly text.

Another way I thought about going at this is using the master sheet with a column of all those accumulated error codes to search each newly generated report error message column and then create a new sheet entirely with any matches plus their accompanying error codes (the error codes are kept cumulatively as well so I'd be adding new ones that come in to a column next to the error message on the master sheet). That way I could tailor the error messages I'm using to do the search with wildcards and such so I wouldn't have to worry about doing it like above, but I wouldn't even know how to start something like that.

Hopefully I explained all that well enough and I'm not asking for a lot. Like I said if you think you can go about doing this another way please share your thoughts/code, even if it doesn't completely do what I'm looking for.

Thanks so much for any help in advance.

Hello,

I got this strange message in XL2003-VBA:

Can't remove control or reference; in use And I don't understand why and how to remove my reference.

To understand what happened:

- I created a blank workbook
- I referenced the "Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library (within an empty project)
- then I tried to remove this reference ...

... and the removal is now impossible.

I also suspect this reference as being the cause of occasional compilation errors.

Ever sen that?
Any solution?

Thanks if you could help me remove that ****ed reference.

Von Pookie's HTML Maker FAQ
Last updated: 07 July 2009

07 July 2009: Downloads are currently unavailable for Colo's site. If you would be interested in testing the new HTML Maker designed specifically for the MrExcel forum, please see this thread:
http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=399380

PLEASE NOTE: This FAQ was written while we were using phpbb forum software. I have not checked these instructions for accuracy with the new vBulletin software we are currently using. It is possible that some items listed here may no longer apply.

Please note the following:
This is not the FAQ for the VBHTML Maker nor the YaBB Table Maker. These directions were written using Windows 2000 and XP, and Excel 2002 and 2003. I do not (currently) know the information for Macs or any other versions of Windows or Excel.

How can I show a small image of my worksheet in my post?
You can simply download the handy HTML Maker add-in! The HTML Maker is available for download at Colo's site. Currently unavailable

I have downloaded the .zip file. What is the next step?
You may need to download an extraction program such as WinZip to open the .zip file and extract the add-in file. For now, just extract the HtmlMaker.xla file to your desktop. Once you have this, you no longer need the .zip file.

Next, you need to locate the Addins folder on your computer. There are several places you may see a folder with this name. From the Excel help file: "Add-ins are stored by default in one of the following places:
The Library folder or one of its subfolders in the Microsoft OfficeOffice folder. The Documents and Settingsuser nameApplication DataMicrosoftAddIns folder."If you're uncertain which folder to use, open Excel, go to the Tools menu and select Add-ins. In the dialog that will display, click the Browse button to see the path for the AddIns folder it is using. Once you've located this, you can simply drag and drop the HtmlMaker.xla file into it.

Note: If you cannot find the Application Data folder, you probably just need to change a setting on your computer.Open Windows Explorer (or any folder) and select Folder Options from the Tools menu.On the View tab, look for "Hidden files and folders" under the Advanced SettingsMake sure the option "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, click OK, and look for that pesky Application Data folder again.

I have added the file to the AddIns folder, but I am unable to activate it in Excel!
Start Excel, go to the Tools menu and select Add-Ins. You should see a dialog box with a list of available add-ins, with a checkbox next to each item. Simply find the one labeled Htmlmaker, check the box next to it and click OK. You should now have a new menu between the Window and Help menus called HTML. You have now installed and activated the HTML Maker, and should be ready to go!

How do I use this add-in?
Using the HTML Maker to post a "snapshot" of your worksheet on the message board is relatively simple.
[list=1][*]Make sure you have enabled HTML in your board profile.Click the "profile" link--which is in the group of text links at the top-right of every page of the board. In the list of preferences, make sure the option for "Always allow HTML" is set to Yes.Click the "Submit" button to save any changes to your profile[*]Make sure the HTML Maker add-in is active (see "I've added the file to the AddIns folder, but I can't figure out how to activate it in Excel!").[*]Go to the HTML menu and select "Convert sheet to HTML"[*]Select the range you want to copy
Please select only the range (preferably with little to no formatting) that is crucial to the question you are asking.[*]Click OK[*]On the message box that pops up, click "yes" (I honestly have no clue what this does, but I always click yes and it works just fine)[*]Another message box will appear, letting you know how many characters the HTML Maker code will use, and how many characters that are remaining for you to use in typing the rest of your message. Click OK.[*]A new browser window will open, displaying what your copied cells will look like when posted to the board.[*]In this new window, click the "Copy code to clipboard" button.
If this does not work...[list=a][*]If you are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed, make sure you allow popups on the page (they will be blocked by default) and try clicking the button again[*]As an alternative:In this same window click the button that is on the page that is labeled "View Source." This is located right next to the "Copy to Clipboard" button.Copy the entire code that is displayed there.[/list:o:4e41f3da2f][*]Come back to the board where you are entering your message, and put your cursor in the area where you type the body of your message.[*]Press Ctrl+V in the area where you type. If you don't know HTML, it will look like a lot of gibberish. That's normal, don't worry about it. You can still edit and add to your message if needed at this point. Do not edit/add to the code from the HTML Maker.[*]When you are finished, click the Submit button to post your message. The table should appear in your post just as it did on the browser page you copied the code from.
Do not preview a message containing HTML Maker code. You will not be able to use the buttons on the preview page to submit your message.Do not quote a post using HTML Maker code. You will receive errors (when quoting a message, simply edit out any extra HTML Maker code).[/list:o:4e41f3da2f]Back to top

Known Issues & Errors

I installed the HTML Maker add-in, but the "HTML" menu you say should appear on the menu bar is not there.
It is possible that you have installed the wrong add-in. This FAQ is for Colo's HTML Maker, NOT the VB HTML Maker or YaBB Table Maker. Making sure you have installed the correct add-in is the first step.

If you have confirmed that you installed Colo's HTML Maker correctly, make sure you have enabled the add-in. Go to ToolsAdd-Ins, click the checkbox for the HTML Maker and click OK. The menu should then appear.

If you have performed both of the previous steps and the menu is still not appearing, post your questions in the Questions About This Board forum.

I followed the directions, but after posting the page is not displaying correctly.
You can either edit the post yourself and remove ALL of the HTML code, or report the post by clicking the "Report" button () on the post to notify the moderators of the problem. A moderator will edit the post to remove any/all HTML Maker code so the thread will be able to display correctly.

As to why the page displayed strangely in the first place, it's usually one of two things: either you didn't follow the directions and copied the source of the page the HTML Maker generated instead of using the "view source" button on the page (yes, there is a difference and we can tell from the code if this is the case), or you have inadvertently posted incomplete HTML Maker code--which is much more common.

HTML requires both opening and closing tags; if you do not post the entire code, the closing tags are not included and the board cannot interpret the code correctly.

When using an HTML Maker example in your post make sure that you have copied all of the generated code and that it is pasted into the message in its entirety. There is also a character limit for each message (but to be completely honest, I have no idea what that limit actually *is*). If you try to use multiple examples within a single post, you can hit the limit quickly and the end of the code could be cutoff.

Error: "Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine"
You may be missing a file called ietimer.ocx, which is required. Click here to go to Colo's site and check if the file is already installed on your computer. This link will also automatically install the file for you if it is needed.
The file is also available for download from Microsoft: http://activex.microsoft.com/control...86/ietimer.cab After downloading the file, it must be registered with regsvr32. The easiest way to do this is to right-click the file and select Install from the context menu.

Error: "Compile error." or "Can't find project or library..."
Open the Visual Basic Editor by pressing Alt+F11. Once in the editor, select the HTMLMaker in the Project window then go to the Tools menu and select References.
If there are any references that start with "MISSING," uncheck them and don't forget to save.
More information on this error can be found in this thread: http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewtopic.php?t=107231

Error: "Error Number: 91, Object Variable or with Block variable not set..."
Click OK to close the dialog box with the error and go to Tools->Macros->Security. Click the Trusted Sources tab and check the box next to "trust access to Visual Basic Project," and click OK.

In Excel 2007, the directions are slightly different:
Click the Office Button and go to Excel Options->Trust Center->Trust Center Settings->Macro Settings->Developer Macro Settings. Then you can Check the "Trust access to the VBA project object model" box and click OK.
(Thanks to Bradlee_S for posting this, because I would have never thought to add it otherwise)

Error: "Runtime error: 5 Invalid procedure call or argument."
When this error occurs, the following line will be highlighted in the debugger:
Code:
Open the Visual Basic Editor (Alt+F11) and go to Tools->Options. Select the General tab and make sure "Break on unhandled
errors" is selected for "Error Trapping."

First mention of this error (and solution) can be found in this thread:
http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewtopic.php?t=242967

I am unable to view formulas after clicking the formula link in the posted example
There are two or more posts in the thread with HTML Maker examples, which could cause a conflict in the Javascript code being used. There is no real "fix" for this issue that I know of. The only real workarounds are to not post a message using the HTML Maker code in a thread already using an example elsewhere, or if you absolutely need to show how the data is set up, use the HTML Maker to show your sheet and indicate what formulas are in what cells within your message. Users viewing the examples in Firefox may notice this problem as well. (I have this issue with Firefox no matter what, personally).

I am unable to copy the generated code to the clipboard.
As was discovered by board member Parry: "If you have installed Windows XP Service Pack 2, a Pop-Up blocker is installed [in Internet Explorer] as part of the pack and by default this will block active content.

When you select your cells and run HTML Maker it will create an HTML page of your image as expected, but the pop-up blocker will prevent you copying the code when you click the button to send Source to the clipboard. Simply click on the pop-up security information bar, then select Allow Blocked Content and you can now copy the HTML to the clipboard."

Miscellaneous
[list][*]This add-in is simply to show a small "snapshot" of the selected area of your spreadsheet. However, some things will not display when posting an HTML Maker example, such as:Drawings and objects (i.e., items created from the Drawing toolbar)Clip art and other imagesCharts and graphsConditional formatting[/list:o:4e41f3da2f]Questions concerning the HTML Maker should be posted in the Questions About This Board forum.
If you have not used the HTML Maker add-in before, please post in the Test forum before making your actual post to make sure the example will display correctly. If any posts with HTML maker code end up "breaking" the page (including posts in the Testing forum), they will be edited by a moderator or administrator to remove the problem-causing HTML code from your post or the post itself will be deleted.

Hello,
I've got approximately 3500 products in my spreadsheet. I'm not sure why,
but the apostrophe signs are multiply. For example """"""Product a is
2""x3"" long."""""

I've tried using find and replace with the ~" but I keep getting a "Formula
too long" error message. I get the message if I try to find and replace them
singularly and when I use the replace all feature.

Does anyone know how I can remove these apostrophes from my spreadsheet?
I've searched high and low and can't even find a reference to the error
message anywhere.

Try this for column A

Sub DeleteBlankRows_2()
'This macro delete all rows with a blank cell in column A
'If there are no blanks or there are too many areas you see a MsgBox
Dim CCount As Long
On Error Resume Next

With Columns("A") ' You can also use a range like this
Range("A1:A8000")

CCount = .SpecialCells(xlCellTypeBlanks).Areas(1).Cells.Cou nt

If CCount = 0 Then
MsgBox "There are no blank cells"
ElseIf CCount = .Cells.Count Then
MsgBox "There are more then 8192 areas"
Else
.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeBlanks).EntireRow.Delete
End If

End With

On Error GoTo 0
End Sub

I have read several previous postings, and I cannot figure out how this could
be a normal function of Excel. My workbook only has 6 sheets, and is a total
232KB. The only formatting that I can see is the same on every sheet, and
does not involve anything complicated (i.e. bolding, borders & fill).

If I try and remove formatting to help the situation, I get this crypic
error message!!

If anyone has any advice, I'd be glad to hear it.

Thanks,

Hi there.

I wanted to assign a macro to a clip art object.

However, when I click, insert-clipart I get an error message saying"ms can't display clipart. this feature is not availible. To make this feature availible, run set up again, click add or remove features, and change the feature to run from my computer"

I don't understand what they mean by run set up for excel 2007?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks you

Hello,

This is my first post here. This is a cross post. I read that cross posts are frowned on, but I didn't receive any replies to the second part of my query and what I am trying to do is beyond my (current) abilities. So I'm hoping that this is ok to post. See the following link.

http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=413309

Here is the first part of my question. I did get a response and solution to this.

Part 1.
Here's the scenario. Worksheet with data in range A3:K58. Note that the range will always start on row 3, but it is possible that the range might increase from time to time with additional rows. I want to do 2 things.

First, I want to go thru the range and remove any blank rows.

Second, I want to go thru the range from top to bottom and insert a single blank row conditionally. The condition is as follows: Column K is a "check sum" sort of column. It will have a non-zero value at the top, and at some point (row) the value in this column will change to zero and be zero after that for the rest of the range. (An enhancement would be to verify that this is indeed the case.) All I need to do is to insert a blank row above the first row that has a zero in column K.

Here is the second part of my question. I did not get a response and solution to this.

Part 2:
Now if someone could further help me to learn and better error-proof things...

1) It's unlikely but possible that column K could change. eg If someone inserts a column ahead of it, turning it into L. How can I deal with this? Some sort of relative reference, or naming column K as a range?

2) Error check that column K does indeed have the structure expected. (See my first post.) That is, starting at row 3, it should have a non-zero value to 'some' row, then it should change to zero and remain zero for all subsequent rows. I would want to perform this check first. If all is ok, continue. If not, stop and provide message.

Thanks in advance.

I have installed an Add-In from www.download.com for MS Excel with the name 'Simple Excel Shortcuts'. The installation file has an .xla file as add-in.

I installed the same. But when I open the MS Excel and clicking on the 'Data' tab immediately an error message with 'Microsoft Visual Basic' with a white 'X' symbol inside a red circle showing error number 400 with two options below 'OK' and 'Cancel'. If I click on 'OK' the dialog box is being closed and no problem further.

If I close Excel and re-open it again same thing is occurring.

I tried for the system restore option, but it was not having any restore point before this add-on was installed. I tried to repair Office but it came that it can't be repaired.

After that I tried to uninstall the whole Microsoft Office 2007 and reinstall it. But after so much time of displaying that boring MS logo, it was giving a dialog box with 'Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 could not be unistalled due to some system errors. Please try again later.'

How can I get rid of this annoying 400 error. Please help me friends... :-(

As soon as I found the error immediately I deleted the .xla file and it's corresponding folder. Still it is coming. I have opened the VBA editor but there it is showing nothing I mean no code or that sort of thing. It is blank.

I restored to the very very long dated System Restore point. All my softwares were gone of course I can reinstall them. But the problem still persists. :-(

The add-in is not visible, as I searched for it in the Excel> Options > Add-Ins. There I found only the in-bulit add-ins but not this one. I tried to uninstall MS Office but it is showing unsuccessful. I am really got vexed with this. It is neither getting uninstalled not showing the installed add-in. How to remove this is only my concern. Please don't suggest Formatting!

To make the discussion specific to the point, I would like to give the exact phrases that were appearing on the uninstllation screen.

They were 'Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 did not uninstall successfully'.

Only this one line was being displayed with a 'OK' button.

P.S. I got a great lesson that never try any Add-on if you are not sure about how is it going to mess you up or how can you get rid of that mess if it messes you!

Hi all...

I have an excel spreadsheet, with Macro's which control Microsoft Word.
They were written using Excel and Word from Office 2000 (Word 9.0).

This is a shared spreadsheet, so some other users have Office XP. After
they open the spreadsheet and make changes, the referece to the
Microsoft Word Objects in the VBA editor is upgraded to V11.

When the spreadsheet is then opened in Excel 2000, errors messages
popup. I then have to remove the "Missing Word 11.0" reference and
re-check the Word9.0 reference.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

Thanks in advance. Matt.

Hi,

I'm trying to use this formula, and the very last part of the formula doesn't work with the "IF" and "AND" condition. I get the following message error:
"The specified formula cannot be entered because it uses more levels of nesting than are allowed in the current file format".

This is the formula:
If you remove the last part of the formula, that is,
IF(AND(E21=0.75,E22>3.75),-1.3448*(E16-4.125)+8.875

and 1 parentesis the formula works....

Please, if somebody knows how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Cesar
