changing column width on clustered column chart

Hi All,

I am trying to change the displayed width of the columns in a clustered column chart, and would appreciate some help!

The data is :

DateRGA31/01/20083613613617/02/200814/02/200837837837821/02/200817919437

And the columns are really skinny!

Can someone help me!

Thanks.

Hey I have a pivot table that I take from an external data source and every time I refresh it, it automatically changes the column widths! Does anyone know how to prevent this?

Thanks for your help!

EDIT: Don't know how to erase this but just for reference: I had changed the pivot table options to not autofit columns and it was still doing this until I realized i had another hidden pivot table on the sheet that I forgot to change the settings for. Problem all solved once I did that.

I need to change the column width on the bottom of my worksheet without
affecting the top. Is there a way to do this?

When I change the column width on a sheet in a workbook and than save it and
select another sheet and then go back to the sheet I had changed, it reverts
back to the previous column size.
I am trying to change the width of the columns so the worksheet prints on
one page. As it is the columns are too wide across so it prints on two pages.
The column headings are formatted to word wrap. I have tried to set column
widths by going to format and than column and than setting column width and I
have tried to click and drag columns to width I want. It works until I leave
that page and than come back to it.

I want to set different column widths on the bottom half of my Excel
worksheet without changing the column widths already in use on the top half
of the worksheet.

This is not an Excel Question, this is a PowerPoint question.

I am working on a chart in PowerPoint.
I cannot increase the column width in a chart! How can I do it, please?

Thanks

Hi,
I have vba code to change column width and height into mm.
The code is taking alot of time to run and then hangs my excel session.
The code below calls two sub routines.
Could anybody advise where i've gone wrong.

	VB:

 Change()
    Dim i As Long

    With Application
        .DisplayAlerts = False
        .ScreenUpdating = False
    End With

    For i = 1 To 23
        SetColumnWidthMM i, 3.5
    Next i
End Sub

How does one have two sets of column widths on the same page? I need to import info that has more columns per page onto the same page. It will fit within the margins if I can reduce the column widths in the imported material, but the original columns need to stay put. Is this possible?

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Is there any way by which i be able to know the width of the contents
of a cell. I need to change column width of a column according to the
width of the contents. Autofit would work but according to the longest
content in the column. I need the column width to be set according to
the width of a specific cell content. Thank you in advance. BYE

I have a macro that changes the scale on a chart everytime the workbook is updated.

below are some lines of code out of my macro.
The plot area commands seem to function fine.

when I get to the line

.MinimumScale = ymin

I get an error "Unable to set the minimumscale property of the Axis Class"

I believe that this error arises because the Value X axis and Value Y axis boxes are not checked.

When I check them, the scale is set.

I want the chart to reflect the scale, but I do not want the actual axis displayed on the chart - how do I do this?

The code is as follows:

With Charts("Plot").PlotArea
.Left = 0
.Top = 170
.Height = 345
.Width = 710
End With

With Charts("Plot").Axes(xlValue)
.MinimumScale = ymin
.MaximumScale = ymax
End With

With Charts("Plot").Axes(xlCategory)
.MinimumScale = xmin
.MaximumScale = xmax
End With

I have a question that one of our users posed to me today. They have a work
sheet that they want the top 3 rows to have the column width stationary or
locked. They want to be able to have the information below it to be able to
have the column width or cell width's resized. Its a worksheet for notes on
incidents. The top three lines hold the header info (address, incident No.)
The next rows has things like Date with a empty cell next to it, Day with an
empty cell next to it, Time with an empty cell next to it. They want the
empty cells next to those titles to be able to be moved. They dont want the
cells next to Address and Incident Number to be able to be moved.

Pretty much what they are wanting is to change the cell width on a single
cell basis. Is that possible? I hope this makes sense because its rather
hard to explain in writing. If anyone has any suggestions I'd apprecaite it.
Thanks!

I have column headers located in I3:L3 that change based on a selection from a data validation list pulling from R1 of another worksheet.

A VLOOKUP function pulls the corresponding data into the cells below each header.

I need help with a macro that will autofit the column width if the contents of any of these cells change.

This worksheet is normally locked, so if possible, I would like to be able to automatically unlock the column in order to autofit the column, then relock it. That's a secondary issue though.

I have a complicated macro in a workbook, I've taken over from someone else. I'd like to change the font and column width on all sheets after import of a report.

I'm thinking my macro should look something like this, but can anyone help me with the last bits?

I would like to change the width of columns in a range by changing the value in a cell. Is this possible?

quick question - how do I change the column widths on multiple sheets at one time? I want to have the same widths for all A columns, a different width for all B columns, and so on. Thanks!

I have a macro that I need to change column width of cells depending on a cell value.

As in if cell a1 = 1.11, a2=2.22, a3=3.33, I want the width of column b to be changed to 1.11 (a1) etc..

The problem is that a1,b1 and c1 will constantly be changing which is why I cant just set the solumn width values in the macro.

Thanks in advance for any help

HTML Code:
Columns("B:B").Select
    Range("B2").Activate
    Selection.ColumnWidth = 31
I need 31 for example to equal whatever value is in cell a1.

I need to put together a sheet with data from different reports and graphs in the middle. It also needs to be centred neatly as it for a presentation.

Trouble is, the data from the different reports has differerent column widths so does not sit neatly on the page.

Ideally I want the Excel data from the different reports to be 'floating' (like the graphs do) so I can move them around irrespective of the column width of the page.

Any ideas how I can do this?

Hi all

I have a pivot table, and every time I refresh the data, it automatically adjusts the column widths to allow for the longest text strings in the table.

I know that one way round this is to change the source data, so that the strings are shorter, but is there another way ?

Ideally I'd like to be able to manually set the width of the columns that the pivot table sits in, and then refreshing the pivot table would leave these column widths unchanged, no matter what data was returned by the pivot table.

Thanks in advance !

I am using Excel 2007 and often cut and paste data in number and scientific
number format. The problem is that Excel will often decide that I need to
see a large number of numbers after the decimal place and will change the
width of the columns to fit that many numbers. I am working with a lot of
data and so I would prefer to keep all of my columns at a set width of 8.43
to reduce the clutter. It becomes really annoying to have to change the
column widths back to the size that I want each time I add new data.

Can anyone please tell me how to stop Excel from automatically changing the
column width each time new data is entered?

Thank you.

In the middle of a page, my column widths need to be different than they are
at the top. But if I try to change them, they change the top too. I don't
want them to be the same. What do I do?

When I change the column width to 7.4, Excel changes to column width
to 7.43. When I change the column width to 7.5, Excel changes the
column width to 7.57.

How do I change the column width to the value I select?

Currently I have some text combined with formulae in a text box showing on a
chart sheet linked to a worksheet where the original info is. In the chart
sheet I would like to change the size of some of the text and add colour to
some of the text as well. The text box can be changed if there is a better
way to achieve the above.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Roger

How do you set default column width when opening a *.csv in Excel?
Changing files in XlStart directory did not help.

Hi,

I have about 60 charts in a workbook and would like to change all of the
font sizes - title, axis, labels to a different font size. Is there a way to
do this with a macro? I also have some text boxes placed on the charts and
would like to change them as well.

Thanks!

Is it possible to change the width of a single cell without changing the
Width of the entire column that the cell is in?

No luck finding an answer? You could always try Google.
