When using the freeze panes excel places a guidline that appears at the top of the scrollbar but this can spoil the presentation.

Anyone know if there is a way to hide this line - i only want to freeze pane but no need for the guideline.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

I just got Excel 2007 and a new laptop, that is running windows XP (can't
upgrade to Vista because of the other programs we have to use and the VPN,
but hopefully will soon). I always use freeze panes in Excel and it seems
that it does not work w/ the scroll button on my mouse. I thought first it
was my USB mouse, but the scroll works in all other programs and works
perfectly in Excel until I freeze panes. Any suggestions as to how to fix
this? I use large spreadsheets and freeze panes is required and Ineed to
move through the data quickly which is why I want use scroll on my mouse.

Thank you in advance.

How do you freeze top row and 1st column in excel 2007 at the same time. The
current options seem to be either one or the other.

Thanks!

In excel 2007 under view freeze pans, I see a few options such as: Freeze Panes, Freeze Top Row, Freeze First Column. However, I do not see an option to freeze a specific column.

For instance if I had columns A,B, and C. There does not seem an option to freeze column B.

Many thanks

hi , I am creating a utility in excel 2007 for managing the travel info for my personal usage. I have created different data tables in the same work sheeets and applied the filter on those tables. My whole intention is, when i select any of the item from the filter drop down i should be able to calculate the cost per person. The problem here i am facing is, when i select any of the item( i mean filter down), the other tables are affected by adding or deleting of its rows. I am not able to freeze the top row of each table.

Could you please help me in solving this mystery?

I have attached the worksheet sample(Sample.xlsx) which i am working on.

Best Regards,
Vijay

When I create a spreadsheet, they usually have a header row. I try to freeze the pane so that I can scroll down while keeping sight of the row labels. However, as soon as I use the freeze pane option, the scroll wheel on my mouse no longer scrolls the workbook vertically, it scrolls horizontally. The freeze pane feature itself seems to be functioning properly because if I actually click on the scroll bar and drag it down, the header row is properly displayed. It is only when trying to use my mouse scroll wheel (which is my primary method). Is this a feature of Excel 2007 that I need to turn off, or is it possible there is an error in my installation?

Hi,
I have a table of contents in a 2007 excel worksheet. I am going to convert that file into an pdf file. My question is: is there a way to make the heading in the first row ( it is frozen in place by freeze panes) appear on every page in the pdf? The list is about 400 rows long and works out to about 4 pages in the pdf. I want the heading row to be at the top of each seceeding page after page 1 of the table of contents. Can I do this besides manually insert the row at where it should be before printing to a pdf?
Thanks for your help.

Is there any way in Excel 2007 to freeze both the leftmost column and the top 2 or 3 rows of a spreadsheet at the same time? I have been doing this for years in earlier versions of Excel with ease, but can't figure out how to do it in 2007.

When I have a sheet password protected on Excel 2003, I am still able to Freeze Panes

Same sheet, (or any for that matter) in Excel 2007 password protected, does not allow Freezes Panes. The choice is grayed out.

Is there a way around this? VBA soloution would be okay also.

Thanks
Harry

Hi!
I recently upgraded from Office 2000 to Office 2003. I just discovered a
problem in freezing rows in Excel in 2003. I never had a problem with this in
2000.
Here's what's happeining. I have different headers for several columns. I
want to freeze the headers so as I move down the page I can see them.
I select the row all the way across under the headers. Then I go to
"windows" and click on "freeze panes" But instead of the headers being
frozen, the frozen part starts several rows below the headers AND the first
two columns are also frozen.
Why is it doing this?
Also... The first time I tried to freeze the headers, I started on the first
cell below the first header and dragged to the last cell below the last
header to select the row below the headers. When I clicked "freeze panes"
then, the first two columns disappeared entirely... I couldn't scroll to
them!
So I undid that and then I tried going to the last cell under the last
column I wanted to freeze and dragged back to the first cell, then clicked
"freeze panes" then I didn't lose any columns, but got what I described
above.
Why is my 2003 excel acting weird? Or am I acting weird? lol. Please help me!
Thanks!!

There no longer appears to be a task pane in Excel 2007. If it's still
there, how do I turn it on? If not, is there a way to display my recent
files list at startup like every other Office app does?

I'm working with a big workbook with multiple sheets. I sometimes need to
view sheets side by side, so I use the normal Window / New Window and Window
/ Arrange functions. However, when I do this, Excel seems to lose the Freeze
Panes formatting within the sheets, and I have to restore it manually. so
the header rows remain visible as I'm scrolling. (Alternatively, I can
manage without the Freeze Panes when I'm viewing multiple windows, but I
still have to restore Freeze Panes when I get out of the "view multiple
windows" mode.)

Is there any way to view multiple sheets without losing the Freeze Panes
settings?

Thanks.

I'm using Excel 2007 and thought I wanted a Header so that I would have a
column heading on each page as I print the pages out (creating a small phone
book that will change from time to time.)

I've spent far too much time trying to get Headers under control, so after
some searching in this excellent forum, I realize that TITLES is what I
really need to do, but I can't quite figure out how to do it.

I have put the column headings in row 1, and have highlighted row 2, and
then tried to FREEZE the pane, because I think that's what I need to do, but
FREEZE PANE is greyed out... I must be doing something wrong, but I can't
figure out what it is...

Any and all help greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Brenda

When faced with this issue, I have had to expand my "freeze panes" at the top
and place info on top of the column headings. In my case the data I would
have liked to be on the bottom was some totals and percentages. When placed
in colored panels on top, the sheet came out looking very nice.

I cannot freeze multiple rows or columns in Excel 2007 Pro version. Help
topics indicate it should be as simple as it was in 03 but when I navigate to
the silly View ribbon, the only options I have for freezing is to freeze the
top row or the first column. I tried selecting multiple rows/columns/rowns &
columns simultaneously but that does not work either.

Keystrokes from 03 don't work either.

There have multiple instances of the help menus disagreeing with actual
application functions in Word. Is there a patch coming out anytime soon. I
don't know if MSFT reads these boards, but it really is terribly frustrating
to have simple application functions such as this not work per the help
specs. Sorry, just venting.

I have the following code included in a workbook code behind in a workbook posted to a SharePoint library. Every cell in a worksheet is locked and the sheet is protected such that they can not select locked cells. However, some of the cells contain hyperlinks that they need to launch but i don't want them being able to modify the links. I wrote the macro below to look at the cell contents behind the cursor and execute the hyperlink if it exists. Anyone who is running Windows XP & Excel 2007 has no issues with this macro running, but anyone using Win7 & Excel 2007 gets an error stating that the cell is locked for editing. Anyone else seen this? Have a work around? Can validate I'm only moderately insane?

ThisWorkbook Code Behind:

	VB:

, _
ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean)
'Let's you double click locked cells to open links

    If ActiveSheet.ProtectContents Then

        Dim myLink As Range
        Set myLink = GetCellBelowCursor()

        If myLink.Hyperlinks.Count > 0 Then
            myLink.Hyperlinks(1).Follow NewWindow:=True
        End If

        Cancel = True

    End If

End Sub

Excel 2007 Freezes up

IT support,

I'm having an issue with Excel 2007. I typically have Ames Mail and the 'My
Computer' file explorer applications open as well as Excel at all times during
the day. When I'm in another program and then switch to Excel it does not
fully refresh and then locks up. I can close the excel program and then
start it up and it works fine. This usually happens 1 out of every 5 to 10
times I attempt to switch programs. It usually happens when no excel files are
open, however it has happened twice when a file was opened and I ended up
loosing the unsaved data.

Please advise if there are any corrections for this issue.
Thanks.

MS Excel 2007 continues to freeze

I am running MS Office 2007 on my computer. I recieve emails from others that contain excel '07 documents. I can usually open the file. Most times when I try to open ANY excel document it will freeze up my entire system. I occasionally get error messages along with the freezing of the system. A couple of the errors I get are "Excel cannot complete the task w/ the available resources. Chose less data or close other..." and "Insufficient memory to create the bitmap. Close one or more application to increase …”

Any ideas how to be able to use MS Excel '07 without it crashing?

Nothing has been changed on the system since this started. It's been happening for at least a couple of weeks now, but less than a month.

*Don't Disregard*

Now, I generally consider myself somewhat excel savvy and completely understand the concept of freezing panes or using the split panels. However, the other day I came across a spreadsheet that allowed for multiple headings to be "frozen" as you scrolled down the page. It reminded me of how the iPhone's contact screen works and as you scroll down alphabetically you retain the "A" heading for all of the A contacts, and as you keep scrolling the "B" heading once you reach contacts which start with the letter B. [See images attached]

Now I imagine this is not referred to as "freezing" panes any more, but I could not figure out to configure my spreadsheets to work in this manner. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hello, this is my first post to this forum, so I apologize if I make any mistakes.

I am trying to create a macro for Excel 2007 that would freeze panes such that the header row of a table remains visible, but the header row may not always be row 1, so I need a way to have it recognize where the table starts.

One idea I had was to see if there was some way that I could have it see that the selected cell is contained in a table and then go to the second row of the table and freeze panes, but I haven't been able to figure out a way to do this.

Since the point of creating the macro is to speed up work done almost every time a new table is created or viewed, it needs to be able to work with any table, so I was wondering if there is any way of having a generic table reference.

Is it possible to do what I am trying for here?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Hi folks,

I'm running XP(SP2) on a Dell Deminsion 8400 with Excel 2007. Whenever I open excel it wants to freeze when I click on the open button icon or the save button. This also occurs if I go to the pull down menu and try either of the commands.

This morning I tried about 30 times before it finally worked. I can usually get it to work after a few tries. But this is very aggravating. MS has NO solutions at all.

I have searched and searched but can't even find anyone with the same problem.

If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreiate it. I'm at my witts end.

Thanks
Danny

I want to save an excel sheet I have made as HTML, but I use freezed panes to
keep various headings up the top. How do I save the page as HTML so that I
can scroll down the page whilst keeping the headings up the top? Anyone have
any ideas?

No luck finding an answer? You could always try Google.
