Scroll bar in Excel 2003

Hi

I have a spreadsheet with over 200 rows. For some reason the scroll bar on the right hand side is tiny. I can't scroll down gradually as one touch and it goes straight to the bottom.

Can you help?
Many thanks,
Russ

Hi,

Could you please advice how to create scroll bar in excel 2003?

Thanks

The horizontal scroll bar does not show in Excel 2003. I've checked the box
per the instructions but the horizontal scroll bar still does not appear.
The vertical does appear.

IN EXCEL 2003 IN THE FORMULA BAR THERE IS AN INSERT FUNCTION BUTTON THAT
GIVES YOU A DIALOG BOX. IN EXCEL 2000 THERE IS A EDIT FORMULA BUTTON THAT
GIVES YOU A EDIT FORMULA BAR WHEN ACTIVATED.
I FIND THIS EDIT FORMULA BAR VERY HELPFUL WITH MY NEW STUDENTS TO EXCEL. I
HAVE THEM MOVE THE BAR JUST BELOW THE ROW THEY ARE WORKING ON AND IT KEEPS
THEM FROM GETTING CONFUSED WHEN SELECTING CELLS FOR FORMULAS. I HAVE THEM
USE THIS UNTIL THEY GET USED TO THE COLUMNS AND ROWS AND IT SEEMS TO WORK.

NOW WITH 2003 THERE IS NO EDIT FORMULA BAR, OR IS THERE ONE THAT CAN BE
ACTIVATED.

Though I checkmarked this option in the Options/View menu, the horizontal
scroll bar still did not appear.

Is this an existing problem?

When I have a cell that contains multiple lines of text (usually forced with
Alt + Enter), the text covers the top few rows of cells on the worksheet when
it is displayed in the formula bar. Is there a way to change the height of
the Formula Bar (in Excel 2003) in order to allow all cells of the worksheet
to be selected, even when viewing a cell that has multiple lines of text?

Thanks for your help.

How do I see the menu bar in excel 2003 when it is not visible.

In Excel 2003 I am entering a paragraph in a cell, but I only have a limited
space to put the information. Is there a way to create a scroll bar on the
side of a certain cell so that I may scroll through information when I need
to? Instead of creating one big cell to show all of the information?

I need to analyse data presented by an application with a web page interface. The web form has limited space for a text description so the field has scroll bars that allow users to see all the text. I copy and paste this information into my spreadsheet, but Excel takes the scroll bars with it, creating a cell which is part filled by the text box which will not resize when I increase the column width. I have tried Paste Special, but the options there, although doing away with the scroll bars, concatenate the text from all the fields in the web form into a single cell, which is very difficult to split out. (Sorry but this forum doesn't support me adding a screen shot to show you what I mean).

Does anyone know how I can reformat the relevant column to get rid of the scroll bars?

Many thanks.

I am having a problem with Excel in Office 2008. All of a sudden I noticed
that the scroll bars are no longer visible. I have have checked what I think
are the appropriate boxes in "Excel Option Display" but the scroll bars
still do not appear. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you

How do you reactivate the mouse scroll function while in Excel 2003?

When I use the scroll bars to navigate my worksheet, they go way beyond the
last row I've used and the last column that I've used, which is annoying. I
have checked to see if there is some random data in any of the additional
unused cells and am not able to find any. I have tried unsuccessfully to
delete the rows and columns and to delete the cells or cell content. It
appears that the solution has to do with the "maximum value" of the scroll
bars, but I can't find out how to set that. I'm using Excel 2000.

Any thoughts would be great. Thanks!

I have Excel 2003 on two PC's - on one I have the row between the toolbars
and the worksheet which shows the formula currently being worked on "the
formula bar" as it is called if I left click on it.

On the other PC this row is not there so I have to edit all formulae and
entries in the cell in the work sheet.

How do I get the "formula bar" please >

Hi all,
I have a control Scroll Bar in my worksheet (Excel 2003). I want to protect
everything except the use of that scroll bar (let the possibility to scroll).
I've tried to play with all the options in the Protect Sheet dialog box....
but when I click my scroll bar it doesn't want ! Any clue would be very
apreciated. Thanks !

Previous Excel versions showed an equal sign button in front of the formula
insert button on the Excel formula bar. In Excel 2003 only the formula
insert button is present.

I found the old version very usefull, is there a way to change the toolbar
back to the old layout ?

kind regards,
Erik

In excel 2003, the menu bar and all toolbars disappear after I've been using
the program for a period of time. It seems the only way to get them back is
to stop and re-start excel.

in excel 2000 there is a edit formula button that when clicked starts the
formula and produces a edit formula bar.. I find this helpful because I put
it just below the rows I am working on and keeps me on the row I am working
on and from getting confused when selecting cells. now i have 2003 and it
has a function button which I rarely used in 2000 and I really have no use
for.. can I get my edit formula button back.. which is very helpful...

I created a plot in excel that shows the change in costs with time. I also included a scroll bar that will show the change in cost with time. But, when I try to include this chart in powerpoint, the scrollbar does not show up. I have tried embedding the excel file and that does not work either? Will I need to write a macro to put the scroll bar in powerpoint and how will I link the cell to the scroll bar?

Hello All,

Not sure if this is possible but what I'm trying to do is create a scroll bar in a worksheet that when scrolled up or down, it would increase or reduce the value of cell A1 by 36 assuming the value of A1 is already set to 1. See example below (scrollbar is represented in column K):

I want to embed a scroll bar in a worksheet that I can use to scroll rapidly left and right (rather than use the default scrool bars). I have seen this done elsewhere but have no idea how to achieve it and can't find any help. Advice anyone please?

Thanks

I have a worksheet that is too wide, thus for me to see the rest of the data(to the right) i have to scroll left&right all the time.
Someone sent me i a document in excel and his had a scrollbar(left/right) that only move column H and beyond. Column A to G dont move.
I want to do something like that, so help me if you know how.

Thanks

I would like to post this question to see if this is a known issue in Excel
2003. I was working in a file that had subtotals I then tried to create a
pivot table out of the data, however, when I click Finish I got a message
that said: "Because your source data has automatic subtotals, Microsoft
office Excel cannot create a Pivot Table report from it. For information
about how to remove the Subtotals, Click Help." When I click the Help button
all I get is a blank Help Window and no article shows on the screen.

Is this a known issue? I'm able to see help topics if I type a question in
the Help Bar, but on the message above when I click Help it is blank. Maybe
there's no help file associated with that error message. Is there a fix for
this? I can’t seem to understand why the message would give you the option
of clicking the HELP button and it shows nothing.

Any ideas?

All,

I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but in Excel, I get the scroll bars
in my worksheet, no problem. However, some times, when I open a worksheet,
it's size is bigger than the workspace in excel. So that some of the
worksheet extends beyond the "readable" area of the space. In this case,
following Windows logic, there should be scroll bars to control the entire
workspace of excel, yet I am unable to enable this. My only recourse is to
resize the worksheet window to fit in the workspace. Not really what I want
to do.

Any suggestions?

thanks
Mike
