Hello!
Here is a link to a file with my situation:

I need to find a way to set up a spreadsheet where I can input the variables
G, H, W, J, Q, S and have excel calculate the possible answers that satisfy
all of the equations in column D.

I know to do this on paper you use matrix algebra but I have no clue how to
do this in excel.

Column B is the results I should be getting for each variable in column A
(with the input values in column F) but I can't get it to work in excel.
Column C is a quick attempt I made to use iterate and circular references but
to no avail. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would REALLY
appreciate it. Oh and column A is a list of all variables used in the
equations in column D.

Is it even possible to input values for the variables in column E and have
excel use those to find answers that satisfy all of the equations in column
D??

Hi.
I have a matrix with 100 customers in rows and manufacturers in about 100 columns and quantities in the middle.

eksample:

man 1 man 2 man 3
customer a qty qty qty
customer b qty qty qty
customer c qty qty qty

I would like to transform this data input into a table with columns: Customer, Manufacturer, Quantity.

Can someone please help me with this in excel 2007?
It used to be a PT solution to this with "multiple ranges" in excel 2003 but
i cant find it in 2007!

thanks in advance!

I am having trouble finding out the purpose of the symbol ^ when using
calculations in Excel. Can anyone help me?

I cant make a (£) pound symbol/sign in excel, instead all I get is a
hash (#).

So when I press: 'SHIFT' and '3' I am supposed to get '£' but instead I
get '#'.

Some other keys dont work although most of the other Shift functions do
what their supposed to e.g. I can still do a dollar sign ($), percentage
sign (%) etc. All keys work fine in other apps eg. notepad. Keyboard
setting is still the set to UK format.

Any ideas?

For example, GE and other stock symbols are NOT recognized by the Excel smart
tags. How do I add these so they are recognized with smart tags in Excel?

Thank you

Excel is used extensively for statistical work, but does not support
specialized statistical characters. For example, the sample mean is usually
written as 'x' with a bar over it, or x-bar. The equation to approximate
regression is referred to as y-hat, the letter y with a caret (^) on top.
I believe inclusion of all of the specialized statistical symbols in the
character set would add in the presentation of statistical analysis done in
Excel.

Hi there,

I want to insert some symbols in excel and I cannot find the correct ones,
these symbols are the washing instruction symbols we have in all our clothing.
I have found some of them in the "TextilePiEF" font in the symbols menu, but
not all of the ones I need. So i wanted to know whether:
1) I could modify some of the symbols in "TextilePiEF" font ? OR
2) Find these washing instruction symbols on the internet ? OR
3) Deisgn my own in PAINT or something and put them in one of the 'insert
symbols' fonts ?

The stock symbol GE for General Electric does not generate a smart tag -- can
stock symbols be added somewhere in Excel so a smart tag is generated?

when we make a chart in Excel and chart legends need to have some symbol
character like micro molar, How could we create it, I tried but micro symbole
chane to "m".

Using my desktop, I am only seeing the first part of the available fonts in
Excel's "Insert Symbol" dropdown menu. I do not have this problem using the
same menu selection in Word. I can see the complete list of installed fonts
from the font menu on the Excel tool barand when formating a cell.

I don't have this problem on my laptop.

Both computers use Office XP (Excel 2002) runing under Windows XP Pro (SP2).

Any suggested solutions will be appreciated.

I have figured out how to create an X-bar symbol in word, but cannot do it in
Excel. Copying it from Word doesn't appear to work either. DOes anyone know
how to do this?

Whenever I type (C) in Excel 2007, it defaults to the copyright symbol ©.
How do I stop the program from doing this, and to allow me to choose when I
want to insert that or any other symbol instead of the program inserting it
by default?

I've added some Wingdings symbols to AutoCorrect options in Word, and I
thought I could access them in Excel but I can't. I tried to add the symbols
to AutoCorrect in Excel by using the character mapy Copy feature. But Excel
won't let me paste the symbol (or type its character code with ALT) into
AutoCorrect.

Any help greatly appreciated, and thanks.
