How to UNLINK cells

Hi

Im having a major problem with my excel on mac. This problem came out of nowhere - somehow whenever I change the information in one particular cell it changes the same cell across multiple sheets. There is no formula in there - it is changing the text, font and font color, etc. Do you know how to unlink this cell without just deleting the whole thing? Let me know thank you!!

Hello all,

I would like to ask how to sum cells from different sheets according cell name. e.g. I want to sum all cells with name "subtotal" from sheet1 to sheet10 (number of sheets is not stable). On sheet1 subtotal is e.g. B3 cell, on sheet2 subtotal is e.g. D5, and so on... so I can't used direct reference like

=SUM(Sheet1:Sheet10!$B$3)

instead I'm tried something like:

=SUM(Sheet1:Sheet10!subtotal)

, which doesn't work.

is this possible without VBA?

In order to reduce the amounts of loops I'm asking my computer to perform, I'm trying to count the number of cells in a range that contain ";" – those will be the cells I'll need to work with. When I use this: "iLoop = WorksheetFunction.CountIf(Columns(1), ";")" it balks – because it wants my search criteria to match the entire cell contents. Any suggestions on how to count cells containing this character w/out resorting to "if"?

in the Msgbox i am getting the value in the rcell , but not the cell number like C7 or E8 etc.

How to extract cell number in the above case.

I am able to find the total no of filtered records using below macro.

But I want to copy the cell by cell value and paste it in another sheet. How to read cell value from the filtered data? I don't want to copy the entire row or sheet.

Hi

If anyone knows how to find cells containing exact text, e.g. email address,
and separate/copy them to a separate list or column of cells.

Sheet has about 600 rows so doing it one by one with search function is not
appealing - there should be an automated way/formula to separate these cells.

I am taking a computer course and needed to create an activity using
Excel. I put together an activity where Kindergarten students graph
M&M candies according to colour. What I would like to do is allow for
cells to change colour when a child clicks on it with the mouse. (e.g.
for each yellow M&M, the child is to click on cell in graph under the
pic of the yellow M&M. These cells would in turn change to
corresponding colour.)

I would also need to know how to have cell return to original colour
when clicked on twice- in case a mistake is made.

Does anyone know how to protect cells from being altered? there are cells that calculate totals and never need to have data entered by users. I'd like these cells to contain formulas and display the calculations, but if by accident a user clicks on one of these cells, they cannot change the contents.

Anyone know how to do this?? I tried making the cells "protected" but it did not seem to do anything.

column with following texts: abcd, bcde, cdef. How to sum cells which contain
"bc" sequence?

Does anyone know how to reverse cell content (text) using the following example:

Reverse cell A1 ("smith, bob") to ("bob smith") and apply results in B1?

Additionally, any hints on counting text letters in cells ("xxxxxx" would equal 6)

cannot copy the formula to other cells in the row because the coping moves
the selection to another column, not to a another row in the same column.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone out there in cyberspace could send a reply that teaches me how to retrieve cell b1 or c1 data instead of a1 from sheet x for sheet y as soon as is convenient to do so.

The summarized situation: An Excel 2007 workbook that tracks a teams's project status...

The workbook contains two worksheets:

2.) Worksheet "X" consists of cells A2, B2, C2.

The title for A2 (located in A1) is "Planned step date",

The title for B2 (located in B1) is "Revised step date",

The title for C2 (located in C1) is "Completed step date".

These three cells all contain formatted dates (mm/dd/yyyy).

2.) Worksheet "Y" consists of a single cell... A1.

The purpose of cell A1 of worksheet Y is to simply display the current status of a specific project step's date....

So here we go....This is what I can't figure out and am asking help solving...I have tried many different conditional statements, formulas and looked all over online, to no avail...

I need the date listed in worksheet Y, to only display worksheet X's A2 if B2 and C2 are blank....BUT...

If worksheet X's A2 has a date and B2 ALSO has a date (even if the B2 date is earlier than A2's date) then I need worksheet Y's cell A1 to only display worksheet X's cell B2 date. Also...

If worksheet X's A2 has a date, B2 has a date, AND C2 has a date (again, for all cell's older/newer dates do not matter) then I need worksheet Y's cell A1 to only display worksheet Y's cell C2 date.

I would greatly appreciate any help solving this...

Hi. I'm trying to create a worksheet to automatically make a football league table update once results are entered. I have entered a formula using the "IF" function which compares scores and then awards points. However before a game is played and the cells are left blank, the formula detects this as a "draw" and awards a point. Any ideas how to prevent the formula operating until a result is entered?

I currently have 64 lines similar to the following code.

What I would like to do is rename the cells with a Do While Loop. I seen the previous thread similar to this, but I am not sure how to increment the Range("B1).Select statement in the loop.
I have the following statement together so far.

This code works but is very lengthy and occupies a lot of space. If I can figure this out then I will be able to apply same solution to eliminate another 300 lines of code.

I have to make cell not editable depending upon the selection of
values from the combobox.I have done this using by locking the cells

Any one know how to write a macro that will format contains of cell to this kind of character ****.

The cell is containing password used during log-in process.

When try to sort by date column, with some cells having dates created by reference/link to anther cell not in the column, the cell changes to a reference error (guess thats what Id call it, not sure what the official name is) =#REF!
Any idea how to sort referenced date cells without getting that error ?

I have a drop down menu with a list. If I click on a category on that list that references to other cells on the same sheet, how do I get it to automatically highlight those referenced cells once that category name on that list is clicked?
