last Update date!

Is there a way in which i can set-up excel so that it can automatically display in a cell the last date the document was updated?

I have 30 sheets and a summary sheet. On each of the 30 sheets there is a last updated box and there is also one for the whole document on the summary sheet. I would like to set up excel so that when you change anything on any of the 30 sub sheets, it automatically changes the last update box on the summary sheet.

Is any of this possible?

Does my explanation make any sense?

Is there a way of entering a last updated date preferably in the header



Is it possible for a last updated date to be inserted into a cell in a

I am trying to put 2 fields in the footer of my spreadsheet. One that will show the creation date of the sheet and the other that will show the date the sheet was last updated. Is this possible?

I would like to have either the worksheet, or charts in the worksheet, date-stamped showing the last time they were updated. I want other people who will view the file to see when it was last updated. Is there a way to do this?

I am trying to figure out how to have a date showing in excel for when
document was last updated. I know you can have date in the footer but that
just shows current date when document is opened. I want date to only change
to current if document has changed.

I want to modify the above code such that the file is opened based on the last modified date property(I mean the oldest file to be opened first and sequentially the files are opened with the latest file opened as the last file)

I want to extract some data from opened files and update another list based on date in ascending order.

Please note that the date is updated in columns so that i cannot sort by date after the whole list is created. also, the file that i am updating is a template so I cannot edit it according to my own needs.

Apologize me for such an ambiguous query. Plese let me know if you do not understand what I exactly mean.

Hello all . . .Am new to the VB part of Excel, but here is my question
as well as my code. I'm looking for some of you Gurus (MVP's) to please
correct it for me, if possible.
I would like to populate a cell in my Excel 2000 worksheet (cell
Q119) with the last saved date, but I don't want the cell to change if
the worksheet was just opened but NOT Saved! I also want to
incorporate this same cell (Q119) into the header. The reason for the
header is because this worksheet is printed and posted on an employee
bulletin board for those employees that don't have access to the
spreadsheet on a PC. The header must print on every page, letting the
employees know how current the posted (printed) version is.

If I have a shared excel workbook, can a date be displayed on each sheet for
the last update?

I created a function in Excel to display the "Last Saved Date and Time" in a
cell. The code is as follows:

After saving the modified file, the cell displays the "Last Saved Date and
Time". I tried to modify the file another time and saved it. The cell however
does not change to the new date and time. But this was reflected under the
File -> Properties -> Statistics.

How can I update the cell to continuous display the right date and time
whenever the "Save" button is clicked ?

Is there a formula or function that will show the date MM/DD/YY the workbook was last changed and saved? I'm looking for a way to visually know when the last update took place without going to the properties window.

When I set up a database I always include a last change date that auto updates every time any field in the record changes. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to achieve a similar function in a spreadsheet. i.e. put the current date/time in a field in the row whenever anything in the row changes?

I have some code here for macro which helps generate a column for about 260 rows of data that lets me see if a change has been made and if so, it inserts a NOW() function. However my spreadsheet has got various VLOOKUPS in and if we click update at the opening of the spreadsheet - it changes the "Last updated" column even if the value of the cells have not changed.

I.e. if Column 3 has a VLOOKUP generating it, and even if the value of R3, C3 has not changed - once i click update on opening source- it updates the "Last Change" column with the current time and date - despite no actual change in the actual value of R3 C3 only the fact thatit has been refreshed.

The code is as follows:

This works fine until we have to click Update from external source etc.. at the launching of the excel file - so ideally is there anyway we can modify this macro to allow the "last change" column to show the actual last change - as in IF the value does change from 2 to 3 in R3 C3, then it shows the last change after the VLOOKUP update, but if the value stays at 2 for example even after the update from the VLOOKUP external source, then the "Last change column" stays the same as it should as no change has been made.

Hi Folks,

I need a label caption in an excel form to show the last saved date of another workbook.

I have a number of workbooks that are updated automatically, what i require is in the menu form it lists the last time a spefic workbook was saved.

The caption would read:

workbook2 was last saved dd/mm/yyyy

where the last saved date is that or workbook 2, which does not have to be open.

Is this possible and if so how.

Posted this last week and got no response so sorry for the repeat, but done a bunch of other research and haven't been able to come up with a solution so hopefully one of the knowledgeable members of this board can help me out this time around.

Is there a formula that will update the date in column B based on the last update to the destination file from a hyperlink in Column A ?

I.e. if column A is a hyperlink to another workbook and I update that workbook on 1/7/10, column b in the current workbook will automatically say "1/7/10"

Could anyone advise if there is an easy way of showing the active file "Last Saved Date" on a Userform and have it show automatically when the Userform is opened?

The Scenario is:

I have a "Main" userform screen and I want to have a text line which says, "File last updated on xx/yy/zzzz ". This must show up automatically when the "main" userform is opened.
