Is it possible to list the day of week and calendar date in the same cell?
If any one can help out it would be greatly appreciated!

I'm stumped on this one.

This is what I need:
If the dates in I7:I106 are equal to "week ending date" (which will be changed every week in cell L3) or within the last 7 days of "week ending date", then COUNT cells J7:J106 if they equal the word "Deficient"

Any takers?

I have Excel 2003 and want to figure out how to format a cell where the date
and day of week appear...i.e. Wed 10/19/2005

I know how to make the date formats change but cannot find one that offers
both the date as well as the day of week...if there are no options for it,
what is the format for customizing it to do this?

Thanks!
Kathy

I have a spread sheet and in column C and D i have dates in the cells in each column. I need an alert to show 30 days prior to the date in each cell in each column. I tried yahoo an this is what i got back and it did not work...

(Select your column
go to the Home Ribbon and then click on "Conditional Formatting"
Choose "New Rule"
Choose "format only cells that contain"
In the second dropdown near the bottom, select "less than"
Enter =TODAY()-30 in the field to the right.
Click on Format > Fill and chose your color (red)
Click OK then OK again.)

I would much appreciate any help. Thank you...

Hi.

I have a cell showing the date (01-Oct-05) with the cell formatted as “date”. Is there a formula that I can use to change the date in column A2 to a day and date in column B2.

I have tried putting the day of week in B2 and using the furmula “=A2&”-“&B2” to join the 2 cells together, but I get the day followed by numbers in place of the date? I have also tried changing the date format to custom dd-mmm-yy but still the same problem.

I'm attempting to force excel to auto update the day of the week, and the date in a spreadsheet. The date isn't as important, since it can be hard coded. The only problem there is some months have 31 days, some 30, and another with 28. I've uploaded an image of the spreadsheet, and you can see in field A1 the date/year is input. I'm wanting to find a way to force the days/dates in fields 2E and 3E to update based on the month. I've searched google for a month of completing this task, as well as the forums, all with no luck. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. A URL to the image is located here: http://www.pichub.com/show/card/5302 I apologize for the size. At work most website's are blocked. I got lucky in finding pichub. Thanks again.

Is it possible to place text and a date in the same cell?

Ex. ="Version Date"&" "&Today() returns

Version Date 39366

Any ideas. I could always just place them in adjoining cells, but they are quite a ways apart.

Hi,

I have a msgbox that pops up when the user opens an excel worksheet and asks
for a specific date in the [dd/mm/yy] forrmat and stores this in a varible
called myDate.

What I would like to do is extract the first two letters of the day from
this date. So if the date input is 15/12/05, then TH (for Thursday) would be
returned.

Can anyone help with the VBA to acheive this?

Thanks.

Hi,

I would like to be able to diplay the day of week (Monday, Tuesday.....) in cell A2, from the date (14/02/2005) in cell A1.

Thanks in anticipation.

I'm trying to figure out how to take one cell that has dates 11/11/02-11/22/02. Then have those dates go in correspondingly with days of week and dates into a timesheet.

I don't know if this is possible. But what I am tring to do is this. I have two columns of letters and numbers in the same cell. I would like to compare B1 with all rows in Column A that meets two conditions. And if two conditions are met, a TRUE value will go to c1. The two conditions are if the letters match, and if the numbers are within 1000, based on the number in B1, it would return a true value.

For example, if B1 cell is A5000, the conditions would be true, if column A has data between A4000 to A5000. And a true would go to C1.

Thank you for any help with this.

I have the following columns:
A: date, B: weekday (of A) C: weeknum (of A) D: year (of A) E: a value (the closing price of a stock)

I want to know the difference between the Friday closing price and the beginning of the week Monday closing price.
**not all weeks have Monday as the start and Friday as the last, that is why I have weeknum calculated
**data is from several years - that is why I have year calculated, otherwise there are duplicate week numbers

Now if I could just figure out how to subtract the closing price on the last day of week (given the year) from the closing price of the first day of the week..

I have some data that contains a date/time field. Let's call each entry a "request". I would like to graph the average number of "requests" per hour, per day.

For example the average number of requests on Monday between 7am - 8am is 25.

I have been able to extract the day of week, the date, and the time, all as seperate fields from the date/time stamp. I'm not sure if this is of use. I've also been able to make a count of all requests by day, but that's not an average and this will be an ongoing thing so as time progresses more and more data will be added.

Thank you in advance for any help.

i have a list of names and dates comprising three columes in excel. How do i
print this list in an array two colums wide on 81/2x11 paper. i.e.:
NAME....DATE....DATE NAME...DATE....DATE
there is enough data to fill four pages. data needs to be sorted so that new
names can be added alphabetically.

I have columns labeled MON TUE WED THU FRI SAT SUN.
In VBA, I want to check the day of week and hide any columns including or greater than that day of week.

I.E: On Monday, before 9:00am all columns show. After 9:00am show column MON only.

On Tuesday, show column MON and TUE
On Wednesday, show column MON, TUE and WED
etc...

On Sunday All columns show.

Can this be done in VBA? If so, any code snippets would be appreciated.

Hi, anybody know how can i check the day of a certain date in a cell? example...12/12/2008, how to check weather is it monday, tuesday or etc etc in vba coding?

I have a spreadsheet of >12,000 records of stolen vehicles (cars,
SUV's, pickups, motorcycles, etc.) covering a period of almost two
years. Each record has a date of theft and other info about the
vehicle. I'd like to look at the thefts for day of the seven day week.
For instance, I'd like to look at all motorcycle thefts over a one year
period and count occurances by day of week and then generate a single
chart with theft count as the ordinate and day-of-the-week as the
abcissa.
I'm new to the group so pardon me if this question has been asked
before.

i want to create a drop down box in excel for the months 1-12, i then want the dropdown selection (ie. march) to be able to generate d-mmm-yy for all 31 days and have the day (ie mon tues wednes) in the next column

so,
A1 | Jan-Dec dropdown
B1-31 | d-mmm-yy
C1-31 | dddd

please help me do this

In a given work book I have total 6 worksheet but I am facing problem in sheet named as “Master Report and Chart” in This sheet I want to build such reports and charts beside it, with the help of countifs, sumifs and subtotal (Reference given in that sheet) So, it can work no matter which dropdowns I select.

How can I seperate the city, state and zip without doing it manually?

Hi,

I have a long list of dates on one sheet, in column E, and a list of holiday dates on another sheet (the array is: 'Study Conditions'!B10:B27). In another column, next to the list of dates, I have:

=CHOOSE(WEEKDAY(E37),"Sunday","Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday","Saturday")

I'd like to add to this, that if the date happens to be on the list of holidays, to return the value "Holiday". So basically, that cell with either contain a day of the week, or a "Holiday".

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

If i enter today date in the cell (Row 1,Column 2) and on tab out, the
column 1 cell should be filled with "corresponding Day" of the date

In a spread sheet, for a complete month i have some comments are
filled,

The rows should be colored to red,the content in the cells should be
Italized and striked, when the date is less than current date

The rows should be colored to Green, the contents should be bold, when
the date is equal to current date

The rows should be colored to Blue, when the date is more to current
date

Thanks

Return Day Of Week Of Excel Date
Return Day Of Week Of DateReturn Day Of Week Of DateWhen finding the weekday associated with any date, most of us would rather see it returned as a name of the day, rather than as a number (the default). Here we show how to extract the weekday of any date by using the WEEKDAY function. By default, the day is given as a whole number, ranging from 1 (Sunday) to 7 (Saturday). However, this is often meaningless, and we usually would rather see the weekday returned as a name, such as Monday/Mon, Tuesday/Tue, and so on.Get the Weekday as a NumberBefore getting to the name of the day, we'll need to begin by extracting the number of the weekday. Here's the syntax for the WEEKDAY formula:WEEKDAY(serial_number,return_type)Lets say we want to return the weekday number of 31-Jul-2007 The serial_num is any valid date in this case 31-Jul-2007 and the return_type is a number that refers to the type of return value. Depending on what result you are looking for will determine the return_type that you will use:return_typeDay of Week
1 or omittedNumbers 1 (Sunday) through to 7 (Saturday)2Numbers 1 (Monday) through 7 (Sunday)3Numbers 0 (Monday) through 6 (Sunday)We will use the default function by omitting the return-type. Click in cell A1 and type in a valid Excel date, such as 31-Jul-2007 (which is a Tuesday). Then, click in cell B1 and enter the following formula:
=WEEKDAY(A1)This formula will return the number 3, which equates to Tuesday, which is the day of the week that 31 July 2007 is.An alternative would be to hardcode the date like this:
=WEEKDAY("31 Jul 2007”)Return the Weekday as Weekday NameRemember, the WEEKDAY formula shown in the previous section only returns the weekday as a number. There are at least two ways we can use formulas to force Excel to show the actual name of the weekday.
The first method is perhaps the simplest, and all you need to do is apply a custom number format of DDD or DDDD. Again using 31-Jul-2007 as an example, select the date cell, right-click, go to Format Cells, and then choose Number tab>Custom. Enter in the custom format DDD under Type and click OK. You will get Tue in your cell.Another, probably safer way is to reference the date cell (e.g., =A1) and format this cell with a custom number format of DDD or DDDD. The big advantage to this method is that it leaves our true underlying date as a valid Excel date.
Return the Weekday as Weekday TextIf you won't be using the weekday that is returned in any further calculations, you can use either of the three formulas that follow (TEXT, WEEKDAY with CHOOSE) to return the weekday of a date as text. This formula assumes you have a valid date of 31-Jul-2007 n cell A1:
=TEXT(A1,"DDDD") will produce Tuesday, or you could hard code your formula like:
=TEXT("31 Jul 2007","DDDD")
you could use the slightly longer CHOOSE function to get the same result:
=CHOOSE(WEEKDAY(A1),"Sunday","Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday","Saturday")and finally, you can hard code the date in the CHOOSE and nest the WEEKDAY function within it like:=CHOOSE(WEEKDAY("31 July 2007"),"Sunday","Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday","Saturday") ")All of these formulas will return the same result - Tuesday, remember though the underlying value of your cell will still be 31-Jul-2007, even though your cell reads Tuesday.

No luck finding an answer? You could always try Google.
