document did not save

I created one workbook out of several sheets. Then I try to save it and Excel does not accomplish the task. It generates a message that goes: "The document did not save". I have office XP on WinXP working on AMD Athlon XP 2200.

Does anybody could help me out with this little problem?

No matter how I try to save my file, I get the msg box "document not saved". Just before this the autorecover or maybe the auto save (i forget which) disabled itself. Any suggestions as to why this is happening. PC memory is fine. have tried saving to differnet locations and under different names but to no avail. Please help if possible. :?

I am trying to save a worksheet In Excel that I have used and saved several
times before. I am now getting the message in a pop up stating that the
Document was not Saved. Has anyone had this error pop up and how do I get
this fixed so that I can save all of my changes?

I have a spreadsheet that is saved into GroupWise DMS. Each time you open the
..xls and make simple formatting changes, then Save and re-open, the changes
aren't there. I saved a local copy of this .xls, but formatting changes still
did not save.

I tried a Detect & Repair and received
"Error 1919: Error configuring ODBC data source: MS Access database: ODBC
Error 6, Component not found in the registry."

When checking ODBC properties in Admin Tools, I receive error:
"The setup routines for MS Access driver (.mdb) ODBC driver cannot be found.
Please reinstall the driver."

As if you haven't seen this befo HELP!

I have Excel 2002.

Intermittently, when I try to save the workbook I get a vbExclamation dialog
box that says "Document will not save".

I've been doing a fair amount of vb macro writing and testing. The only odd
thing I do, is that sometimes I'll make a change to a procedure, minimize it
(but not close) the vb editor and run the macro.

workbook is about 1.4 million bytes. 12 worksheets.

As I work, I've been saving the workbook about every 10 minutes.

What can I do to prevent this from happening. I don't like to lose the work
I've done.
What are the likely causes for the message from Msoft?

Thanks.

I have a multi-sheet workbook that has numerous buttons which have
macros assigned to them. Clicking on the button sends the user to a
particular spreadsheet, prints a spreadsheet, etc. All the buttons
work fine. However, recently when I attempt to save the file (either
via File Save As or Save), I get a message box saying the document is
not saved. Same error message if I attempt to save to a new file
name. The workbook is not protected.

Any suggestions? I suspect the macros assigned to the buttons because
if I disable the macros, the file will save. Of course then I lose
the macros that control the buttons.

I'm using Office 2000, (same problem with Office 2002).

I created a spreadsheet in Office 2003 for PC and sent it home to my Mac with Office 2004. Now, when I try to save or save as the doc on my Mac I get the prompt "Document Not Saved". I have tried saving it as a different version to no avail. Any reason why this would happen. I frequently send my work home and this is the first time that this has happened.

When you get an error in excel saying ' Document not saved ' ... what is the best way to retain data
1. You try to Save - doesnt work , msgbox pops up with the above message
2. Save As - same msg
and even if the computer is not running any other application still it shows the same error while saving. I know auto recovery is a goood option but is there any such method that the data on the spreadsheets could be saved?

My company is running workstations with Win98 and Office 2000 SBE. Recently, we brought down our NT 4.0 server and are now running Server 2003 (completely new server, not an OS upgrade). Since the change, we have had trouble with some of the workstations not being able to save certain Excel files onto the network drives. Some workstations are getting the "Document Not Saved" message when saving Excel files with macros and embedded objects. Other computers are getting "Disk Is Full" then "Document Not Saved", sometimes on files that contain no macros, but contain embedded objects. After looking around, I found some information on XL2000 having a problem of saving files created from templates that contain embedded objects. It did not offer any kind of fix or patch, and the suggested solutions are not at all practical. What I do not understand is why these issues did not exist before the server was changed. I also do not understand why only a few of our workstations are having this problem. If anyone has any information or suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

Hi,

I have received some tips that have help mr so far but now have a new problem.

I have worked on my spreadsheet to get it working properly again with help from Dave but I have two existing errors. The errors occurs when:

1. I try to save the file using my program specific menu and try to replace an existing file - I get the error 'Run-time error '1004' Document not saved' and

2. When I try to close the workbook (the X in the top right hand corner of the page), Excel locks up and I need to use Ctrl+alt+del to close.

I would be grateful for any suggestions please.

Regards,

CDT

Can you save it as a new name in the same folder?

If no, can you save it as a new name in a different folder?

Dear all,

Well, thats about it, really. I have been working on this particular spreadsheet for weeks now with few problems beyond it running very slowly (considering how formula heavy it is, this is not to be unexpected). However, as of today I cannot save it.

You select 'Save' or 'Save As', it calculates its formulae (takes about a minute at the moment), then it tries to save before displaying a message that says no more than "Document Not Saved!"

Has anyone seen this before?

Max

Windows NT4 and Office 97.

What does it mean when you try to save an Excel workbook and you get a message that says "Document not saved." What I'm really looking for is why does this happen and how do I save my work? I've tried changing the name and the location. Same message.

I'm afraid to exit Excel. Have I lost all my recent work or can it be salvaged?

I have a large file with a lot of code/forms etc... This file has been getting updated for quite some time. All of the sudden, I get the following when I try to save:
Document Not Saved I have tried to perform a Save As to different locations and filenames with no success. Is my file junk?

The file is an Excel 2003 format and is approx. 23 Mb in size.

Thank you.

Hi,

I have been using an Excel workbook for a number of months. I have been
working on it today, went to save it and it came up with "Document not Saved".

Even if I try and give it a different name, it will not save it.

Anyone know why and what I can do about it?

Thanks,

Will

When i'm trying to save the excel file that i was working on, i get the error
"Document not saved". I'm saving it to a network drive. its about 300KB and
about 10 worksheets

1. I already tried saving it to another network drive or my local hard drive
- NO
2. tried copying the file to the desktop and edit it, then save it to
desktop - NO

need this fix asap.
tnx.

I have 2 docs (Saturday and Sunday) both have been working fine and each
is about 2.5MB. The other day whenever I try to save the Saturday file
I get the progess bar at the bottom for a second or two then the
message "Document not saved" Sunday's file still works fine.

I have tried to save Saturday as "Saturday1" but get the same message.
I have autorecover set and have gone to the correct folder but no
autorecover file exits.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance

Buddy

When I try to save changes in a file, I get a message saying "document not
saved" althought I have tried to save as it in a difference name or
difference directory already but I can not save changes in this file also. At
the begining when i open this file i did not receive any remind box to show
it is a read only file or any others kind of excel file

Hi,

I have created an excel document under windows xp/office 2003, this
document contains ~20 worksheets, and some vba code behind.
Using this excel file on windows works fine.
On a macintosh, I cannot save the document ("Document not saved")
I try with Panther/Tiger and Office X,Office 2004 without and with
updates. Note, that the file is stored locally, and is unprotected.

By deleting some vba modules, i can save again, but there is no way to
reproduce this systematically (deleting a given vba module could solve
the problem for one save, but only once)

Browsing the web, i see that I am not the only one having this
behaviour, but I couldn't find any answer.

Any clue ?
I can provide the XLS file for those who want to help me.

Etienne

I opened an excel document sent as email attachment. I did not save it to
disk. I worked on the document while open as an attachment and saved it.
When I went back to the e-mail and opened the atttachment my changes were not
there. I have found several excel document in a temporary file but cannot
open them. The text import wizard says its delimited and it looks like it is
encrypted. Were is my saved Excel attachment and how do I open it. I'm
new to Exel and I promise I will always save to disk in the future.

I was emailed an Excel workbook. When I make changes and then try to save
the file, I get a pop-up saying "Document Not Saved!". The file properties
shows it is not a read-only file. The workbook or worksheets are not
protected. I also checked the unrestricted access box. None of these
solutions seems to fix the problem.

Anyone? Bueller?
