How to change the column name?

I somehow changed the header for my columns to number (1, 2, 3, 4...) rather than the default letters (A,B,C...). So, things like A1 no longer register with excel. How to I change the formatting back to letters?

I have an Excel table, have sorted it on 4 levels. Is there a way to change
the column order in the table so that the information gleaned in the sort is
clear? In other words, I'd like the column order to mirror the sorting
levels.

Does anyone know how to change the color of the row & column headers of the active cell?

For example, when you're in cell M25, both the column header "M" and the row header "25" change colors from grey to a greyish blue, which doesn't contrast very well with the grey of adjacent headers. This makes difficult to visualize in which column/row you are.

Any ideas on how to change this color to, say, a more contrasting orange or yellow? (like in the new Excel2007)

In the original setting of excel, the column name starts from "A", "B", "C",
.....so on and the row name starts from "1", "2", "3".... so on. Is it
possible to change the setting to the column name starts from "1", "2", "3"
and the row name starts from "A", "B", "C" ?

I have to make a 2004 year calculation using 2004 year table in the same way
a 2003 year calculation which used 2003 year table was made. I copied
formulas from 2003 version table to 2004 version table. The 2004 version
table has different columns order therefore column letters in the formulas
are incorrect. I want to change the column letters to correct ones according
to 2003 and 2004 column lables located in a top rows in the tables. I have
to use columns with the same lables as in 2003 year in formulas. How to
change the column letters to correct ones in all formulas automatically? I
do not need to change row numbers because they are correct.

It's awkward for me to use "A, B, ...CW..." as column names, when large
matrices of data are processed.

I couldn't find a way to change the column name convention in Excel to
regular numbers "1,2,3....", just as the convention of the row names.

Also, I could not find a good reference book, or online reference document,
describing how to rely on numerical references to worksheet locations during
large matrices manipulations. All references I have found a based on "mouse,
click, drag...", which are very impractical for large matrices operation.

i need to change the file name of a formula that i have used across my speadsheet :

=IF('[Test.xls]Master Holiday Sheet'!J143=1,"D",IF('[Test.xls]Master Holiday Sheet'!J143=0.5,"d",""))

Where it says [Test.xls] i need to change to say [Holiday.xls] can i do this without changing every cell individually and without changing it in one cell and draging it accross the others ????

I was hoping you might be able to advise me how to change the colour of VBA Userform Command Buttons.

This may be the .backcolour feature...not sure...could you please also advise how to find a reference guide to the colour index ie what number refers to each colour.

Can someone please help me figure out how to change the "Y" axis value in a
line graph in Microsoft Excel from percentage to the value that I want it?

I got a new computer at work. The insert function key on my previous excel
software on my previous computer had been changed so that it permanently
showed an equal sign, instead of the fx characters. Thereby eliminating the
need to select the "sum" option in the function box. I used this = sign
feature all the time as I edited numbers in a cell. I would need to add an
additional figure to an existing figure in a cell. And to do so, I would go
to the cell, click on the = sign (just in front of the formula bar) and it
would automatically allow me to just hit + and the additional number without
having to go select "Sum" first. When I got the equal sign was no longer
there, just the fx. I need to know how to change the fx to the equal sign.
Hopefully this makes sense. (version Exel 2003)
