Hyperlinks not working

The following is a simplified example of my problem: I have a list of product item numbers in column A. Next to each item number in column B, is a hyperlink to a PDF file relevant to each item. Elsewhere in the sheet, is a drop down box containing the item numbers. Next to the drop down box is a HYPERLINK(VLOOKUP) that fetches the relevant hyperlink depending upon the selected item in the drop down box. Problem is, when I select the ‘lookup’ link, I get an error message ‘cannot open the specified file’ (the original Hyperlink works fine). Does anyone have a solution to this problem (preferably without resorting to Visual Basic?

Browse feature in Word 2007 to insert hyperlinks not Working

Hi,
When i try to insert a hyperlink in Word 2007 by clicking on insert Hyperlink and whenwe click on browse it returns a error
i have Windows 7 machine
i have already tried installing another browser and that didnt work

I have an excel spreadsheet that I use to list data on some products. I have
a hyperlink for each job I have that links to a performance data spreadsheet
for the product, specific to the job.

If I open this spreasheet in excel 2002 and insert a hyperlink to the file,
the hyperlink works until I save the file. Also, when the hyperlink is
functional you will get the tool-tip that shows where the file is, once it os
"broken" i.e. does not work, the tool tip is gone. Also, if you right-click
you do not see the edit hyperlink option, you have to go to insert menu and
select hyperlink to edit the link.

After it is "broken" if I open the spreasheet in excel 2000 the link still
does not work, but if I go to insert hyperlink and browse for the file, it
shows that a relative reference is appended to the beginning of hte
hyperlink, so the path does not exist. Once I fix it, it all works OK in
Excel 2000, but as soon as i open in excel 2002 it stops working again.

Hello,

I have a workbook that is located on a sharepoint drive. I open it up and edit it (saves a local copy while editing) then i check it back into sharepoint.

My problem is with the hyperlinks in the workbook. I added a bunch of links via the Left click Hyperlin Dialogue box. Their address is something like this: http://company.com/Document.dotx

When i go to check view the workbook on sharepoint it opens up fine in excel but all my links are now changed to point to my local c drive so the links do not work.

Any help is appreciated..

I'll try to explain the best I can.

The code works fine but here is the thing:

Im trying to create a click counter to track what hyperlinks are clicked in my excel document.
If my excel document is located on the "public" drive, the only click counters that work are the ones located on the "private" drives.
For example: If my excel document containing the code above is located on the "public" drive the only IF statements that work are 2nd and 3rd.

If I copy the document and place it on the "Private" drive the only IF statements that work are the 1st, 4th, and 5th.

Creating a shortcut to files on the "public" drive and placing them on the "private" drive, (and/or Vica Versa), and hyperlinking to them does not work because the document thinks the shortcut may be unsafe.

I have macros referencing a group of merged cells that contain the hyperlink. The macros are placed on a image/picture.

So basically whats happening is:

Someone clicks a picture that has a macro on it, that macro references a group of cells that contain a hyperlink. Once clicked the counter increases by one.

Im just wondering why the click counters only work on some of the hyperlinks, depending on what drive my excel file is located on. If I flip the drives, the ones that previously didnt work, now work, and the ones that previsouly worked, no longer work.

I hope that makes sense.

Let me know if you need any clarification.

Thanks

I asked a question earlier, and the answer was to make a macro
This explains what you need to do:
http://www.techonthenet.com/excel/macros/delete_hl.php

Basically you have to create a macro to remove all hyperlinks at once. The
link provides detailed instructions on how to do it.

If you get stuck just post another question and someone can walk you through
it.

Answer: You will need to create a macro to delete the hyperlink addresses
in your Excel sheet.
Open your Excel spreadsheet that you wish to remove the hyperlinks from.
Press -F11 to go to the Visual Basic editor. Create a new module. You
can do this by selecting Module under the Insert menu.
Paste the following code into your new module:
Sub RemoveHyperlinks()
'Remove all hyperlinks from the active sheet
ActiveSheet.Hyperlinks.Delete
End Sub
Close the Visual Basic editor window by selecting "Close and Return to
Microsoft Excel" under the File menu.
Now, go to the sheet that contains the hyperlinks that you wish to delete.
Here is an example of a sheet with multiple hyperlink addresses:

Under the Tools menu, select Macro > Macros. Highlight the macro called
"RemoveHyperlinks" and click on the Run button.

Now your hyperlinks should be deleted as you can see by the example below:

If you need to remove hyperlinks from other sheets, just repeat the steps
above.

THIS DOES NOT WORK FOR ME. I GET A SECURITY
i HAVE READ ALL THE SECURITY, and have tried most.
Does anyone have any simple suggestions? just absolutly stressed in TEXAS

After i save the file my hyperlink does not work in excel 2003.
I have tried right click as well as the insert hyperlink methods. It work
the first time, but if I save the file or close it and open it again, it does
not work.
Please suggest.

Hi All, my hyperlinks do not seem to be working just I though I had it all worked out. I'm really baffled as to what has gone wrong with the formula. I want to be abel to use the HYPERLINK function to accomplish this. I've attached the file.

An Excel97 workbook, containing Hyperlinks, does not work, now we've upgraded
to Excel 2003. It has over 300 links....

there has been a similar thread regarding this which has been resolved but i have the same issue and dont know how to do the code part Hyperlink to Hidden Sheets

my problem is i have been tasked to create a walking competition to encourage staff where i work to walk and take part in a quiz about the area we work in.

i have the map page which is my main page that i want everyone to see when they open the spreadsheet and then i have 26 tabs (A-X and one called answers and one halfway) i have made hyperlinks on the map page that will 'appear' (they are hidden through conditional formatting) when a specific step count has been achieved.

however when the tabs are hidden the hyperlinks dont work. i tried to folllow advice to pjeter from Jan 2011 but im not really sure how to make the codes work for my document

i want only map to show and when the user clicks on the hyperlink for the specific page (set of questions) they go to that worksheet, at the top of the hidden sheet i have a hyperlink to take them back to the map which will then hide the question tab (A or B etc all the way to x)

eventually i will have the answer tab, look up the answers they have given on each tab and let excel add up the number of correct asnwers etc (working on this though as only had it yesterday)

the spreadsheet is too big to attach to this post - sorry

Regards

Zach

Please help with this if you can.
Here is the command I want to run when I click on a cell...

c:windowssystem32mstsc.exe /v :

I tried:

=HYPERLINK("c:windowssystem32mstsc.exe /v :"&P2,P2) where P2 is the server name, but it doesn't work. Maybe because of the /v switch?

Thanks for your help.

Ok I seem to be going around in circles, I have tried numerous ways of getting this to work and it just wont. All I need to work out is how to have a value from one page copied to another when a cell is selected (I will try and incorporate a hyperlink into the code as well)

    Case "$A$5"

        Selection.copy
        Sheets("front").Select
        Range("F13").Select
        ActiveSheet.Paste
        Range("F15").Select
        Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:= _
        False, Transpose:=False
        Range("F17").Select
        Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlFormats, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:= _
        False, Transpose:=False
        Application.CutCopyMode = False

    End Select

End Sub

I recorded the code above (between "case"$A$5"" and "end select") but it reaches the first range select and drops out with "select method of range class failed" even though the code works if run as a macro.

I have also tried with worksheets("worksheetname") the copying the range but that also will not work for me.

Please help.

Sumproduct not working because sheet name has space and dash in it. Dave Patton had suggested a solution but I am sorta lost on it, so here are both sheets.

C5 on the bottom sheet houses the formula that giving me trouble ...

I have written a macro which simply counts the number of rows where column A is later than column B and Column C is 'D'.

Dim rng As Range, c As Range
Dim count As Long
count = 0
Set rng = Range("A1:D20")
For Each c In rng
If c.Offset(0, 2) = "D" And c.Offset(0, 0) "" And c.Offset(0, 0) > c.Offset(0, 1) Then count = count + 1
Next c
[D1] = count
End Sub

This works as intended - 4 rows.

However, I now want to count rows where Column A is more than 10 days later than Column B. I tried this code but it does not work.

Dim rng As Range, c As Range
Dim count As Long
count = 0
Set rng = Range("A1:E20")
For Each c In rng
If c.Offset(0, 2) = "D" And c.Offset(0, 0) "" And c.Offset(0, 0) > c.Offset(0, 1) + 10 Then count = count + 1
Next c
[D1] = count
End Sub

What have I done wrong?

Also, is it possible to exclude weekends when counting the number of days in the macro?, i.e. 10 working days from the 05/07/2007 would be
19/07/2007.

Thanks

I have an excel speadsheet and other files under a Sharepoint services
structure. If I click on a link in excel to one of the files, a message
saying, for example, Microsoft Office Powerpoint could not open file
https://sp.... appears. If I manually open powerpoint, and open that file,
then click the hyperlink again, the file will open in a new powerpoint window.

Excel 2003 - hyperlinking from 1st sheet in workbook to other sheets in the
same workbook. Hyperlinks are in different rows, each linking to another
sheet. First few links to other sheets are working fine, but after that,
clicking on hyperlinks is just opening last sheet on series despite each
entry in hyperlink box showing the correct link to a different sheet. Have
carried out this procedure in other workbooks many times without difficulty.
No changes have been made to properties in the File menu. All advice
gratefully accepted!

Hi,

I have a excel which stores URL and its short description.

I need to have a cell in other excel to have the "short description"
from first excel and when I click on that it should go to URL given in
first excel.

I used farmula in cell of second excel like following:

=HYPERLINK('abc[excel1.xls]sheet 1'!$G$7,'abc[excel1.xls]sheet
1'!$F$7)

This works only when first excel is open.

When first excel is closed, second excel shows correct URL value and
description
but when clicked it doesnt take to the URL.

Do you know any way to get around this issue?

Thank you!!!

I have a program that make a list of "lst" under one directory and then
create a hyperlink for each one (see below). The program runs prefectly just
the hyperlinks do not work.

I am thinking that perhaps when I open the "lst" file in manually in excel I
got the TEXT IMPORT WIZARD window message that allow me to choose:
1.- In the first step DELIMITED.
2.- In the 2nd step SPACE ONLY
3.- In the trird step GENERAL.

Do you think is possible to adjust the hyperlink to read the step shown
above?.

Thanks in advance.
