Excel Curves- Area under the curve

I use chromotography(GPC) in my research. This gives bell shaped curve. To compare two cuvres, I need area under the curve. Can any one teach me the way of calculating area under the curve in excel worksheet?(The curve will be in the shape of "Normal distriubution" shape).

Please help

Hi all,

I've got a set of data consisting of some curves, displaying time in
minutes on the X-axis and the blood concentraction of substance A on
the Y-axis. The X-axis consists of 13 measurements (0, 15, 30,...to 180
minutes). So these curves show the concentration of substance A over a
180 minutes period.
Can anyone please explain how to calculate the area under the curve
(AUC) of these curves? Is it possible to do that in Excel?
Thx alot!

Is there a function to calculate the area under the curve? I have tried to
use the AREAS(ref) function but failed at finding the area. Maybe I used it
wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated =)

Jon Peltier used a VBA technique to fill the area under the curve. It works
with me fine but if the value of the Y coordinate is below 0.001 then the the
procedure crashes.

Is there a way to correct the procedure??

See this chart for illustration

I wonder whether integration tools are available in Excel? for example, to
use integration to calculate the total area under a curve. anyone has used
the function or knows about it? thank you expert.

I am trying to calculate the area under a curve in an excel graph, can anyone
help?
Thanks very much

i need to calculate the area under a curve in MS excel, but there does not
appear to be function that does this. Have i missed it? I have used SPSS too,
but it also doesn't appear to calculate it. i have check both programs' help
databases, both online and offline.

It's a very useful tool, and should be included in the program.

HELP!

I have created two hydrographs in excel and I want to find out how to
determine the area under each curve

I wrote a User Defined Function that can calculate the Area Under the Curve using Simpsons Rule, the Trapezoid Rule, Left Rule, or Right Rule. I plan on using these Numerical Integration methods with my AP Physics students in a lab next year.

It can also calculate a fit equation for Linear, exponential, Ln, and Power functions.

Here is an example of the results. As you can see, when the fit is way off, the results do not make sense. I was unsure how to proceed with calculating r^2 values for nonlinear data. Hopefully someone, somewhere will find this uesful.

I have data that generates points where each X value is less than or equal to
the one before.

I can find the area under this curve determined by these points.

I want to know how to find the y-intercept for a line that is basically
horizontal, but becomes congruent with the line formed by the points above
after they intercect that is determined by a number representing the area
under it.

Here's my attempt to illustrate:

|
|
|.
| .
| .
| ...
| . I know these points
| .
| .
| .
| ......
| .
L|------------------...
| ...
|
| I know this area
| and the total area |
|
|________________________

I need the y-intercept of the line (L)
determined by the a particular area.

I hope this can be done without great dificulty in using Excel

Although I majored in math, and was quite good at it at one time, haven't
had occasion to do a calculus problem for the better part of 40 years.

Any help appreciated.
