Arrow Keys No Longer Work in EXCEL

The arrow keys no longer work properly in Excel. I used to be able to
move left/right/up/down with the arrow keys. Now, every time I hit an
arrow key the whole sheet moves. I noticed that the solution for this
on the PC is that the scroll key is locked. I have a MAC - hence no
scroll key (i believe). Any thoughts???

I did something and now my keyboard arrow keys no longer work. The arrow keys
will not move the boxes on the worksheets. Should I reinstall Office 2003?
Any help?

Hello everyone,

A single line of my vba code that I use to use all the time in excel
2000 no longer works in excel 2007. When I try to use the command:

Left(myString, Len(myString) - 1) is get the following error:

"Compile Error: Can't find project or library"

I made sure to use the "Run all items from my computer" when installing
excel 2007, so all libraries should be present.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advanced

I can no longer use the arrow buttons to move around my excel worksheets
(to change the active cell). When I click on the up or down arrows the
sheet itself moves up or down, however the active cell remains the
same. I have looked in the "Tools" - "Options" area to see if I need
to set or reset something but cannot find anything.

I can't imagine what happened (except I do have a few feline friends
who use my pc when I'm not looking!)

I would appreciate any input ...

Thanks
Bernadette

This will seem ridiculously simple to most Excel users here, but I always forget what to do when this happens and how to stop it from happening in the first place. Anyway, for some reason I can only use the mouse to move from one cell to the other, when I try the arrow keys it just scrolls in the direction of the arrow. Could someone tell me how to fix this?

Hi!

Some years ago, I wrote two VB scripts for Excel in Office 97. Today, I
discovered that they no longer work with Excel in Office 2003. Both failures
seem to be related to "Cells". Could somebody please help me with how to
rewrite the scripts to get rid of the errors?

In the first script, I get "Run-time error '1004': Application-defined or
object-defined error" for the line "Cells(Row, Column) = 0" in the following
script. Does anybody know why I get this error and how to rewrite the code
to get rid of it. Unfortunately, I don't remember much about writing Visual
Basic scripts. I just did it briefly and it was some years ago.

Ok, this is kind of a big problem. I have been working on a workbook, and all of a sudden, my keyboard no longer worked in Excel. No shortcuts, no CTRL+C, no CTRL+V, no CTRL+S, no CTRL+A, no F12 to save, no letters, no numbers.... The only button that is working is my ALT key, and I use the other letter keys just fine to navigate after pressing ALT.... But that's it!

It's very strange, and a bit frustrating. I have still been able to work on it, thank goodness, because I can still write in Word, and I can still write more code in the Visual Basic window, and I can still click the buttons I create under the Developer... but it's still frustrating to not be able to type a thing in any of the cells, formula bar, or be able to use any of the shortcuts. And now when I tried to close it, I can still select everything else, and I can close this workbook, but it won't close Excel. It's acting very strange....

I'll restart my computer, and that's fine, but if anyone knows of a solution so I can better deal with it if it happens again, PLEASE let me know!

Thanks so much,

dcobia

is there a setting that isn't allowing my arrow keys to work in Excel?
Additionally, my cursor will not select a cell - it only highlites cells. I
can't use the menu bar or even quit out of excel with Ctrl+Alt+Del. Arrow
keys and cursor work in all other applications

I accidentally hit several keys simultaneously, and now the 4 arrow keys next
to the key pad no longer scroll from cell to cell in Excel. They work in Word
and Publisher, however.

How can I get the arrow keys to allow scrolling in Excel again?

Why would My F2 key not be working in Excel 2007?
Each time I hit the F2 key it just does nothing. I'm so used to typing
F2 and then the text to append to the cell, but it just overwrites
because F2 won't open the cell for editing.
I've tried with both "Allow Editing in Cells" option turned on and off
and it makes no difference.
I'm sure it's just a simple setting but I'm not sure what it is...
does anyone know?

Hi

The below macro worked perfectly in Excel 2003, but now in Excel 2007, it doesn't do anything.

It used to collate data from multiple workbooks into one.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Please see the below code that I have in an excel workbook. The purpose was to send me a message that a new request had been submitted. Everything worked really well until Outlook and Excel were upgraded to 2007. Now it is no longer working. Can anyone help with this??? The items that have double comment marks were already commented out when the code was working. Thanks in advance.

On a subform (_qry_CusIns_Financial_Other), I have code associated with a combo box (FinancialYearStart) to automatically update a text box (FinancialYearEnd) depending on the value selected. This is a part of the code:

Unfortunately, when I put this subform into the main form, the code no longer works and FinancialYearEnd is not automatically populated. Can someone explain where there are errors in my code and how I can get this to work on the main form?

Also, I have hyperlinks on my subform that when placed in the main form, also stop working. Why does everything work correctly when the subform is alone but then stops working once it is placed in the main form?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I have a VBA app that I originally wrote in Excel 2000. Someone who
had Excel 2003 tried it and found compile errors. I downloaded a
trial version of Excel 2003 and debugged the app. I found that the
problem was a Calendar control that was available in Excel 2000, but no
longer supported in Excel 2003. I replaced the Calendar control with
the new Date Picker control, and the app is working in Excel 2003.

But I had another person the new version with Excel 2002, and that
person is not able to run the app due to compile errors as well. That
person is coming up with a "Can't find project or library" compile
error. This error message seem similar to the error I was originally
seeing when I tried to run the original Excel 2000 app in Excel 2003.
Also, when forcing a step over, the error seems to be pointing to a
"Format" statement on a date. However, I know from debugging the code
for Excel 2003 that the problem is probably not the "Format" statement,
but rather the Calendar control I was using. I don't understand what
causing the problem now in Excel 2002. Does Excel 2002 support a Date
Picker control?

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I'm a relative newbie to VBA within Office Apps, A work collegue and I wrote a program in VB6 that enabled us to use "right Click" context menus in Excel 2003, basically when you clicked on one of the menus it ran a Sub which was held in a sheet called personal.xls which is in the XLSTART folder on the pc. For some reason it's now not working at all on my pc although it's working on several other pc's, I've opened up the sheet I'm working on in the Visual Basic Editor and the the personal.xls sheet is there along with my other workbook, I've put a breakpoint on the sub in question, gone back to the orginal sheet and fired up the context menu expecting to find the cursor stuck on the break point, but nothing happens. It's as if the personal.xls isn't part of the sheet, I hope I've explained this correctly. Can someone advise me as to what may be wrong?

The right 'Alt' key does not work in Excel 2003. The key plus the <enter> key
provides a paragraph break in a cell of text. When I discovered the problem
at work, I had to have MS Office re-installed (a few times!), but is not my
preferred option at home.

The Erase Border and Draw Border functions, which I found very useful, no
longer work in any worksheets. When I click on the appropriate icon, my
cursor just turns into a fat cross, but then nothing happens. they used to
work just fine. Any ideas?

Hi,

Macros i ahev cretaed/wrote in excel 2003 no longer work in Excel 2007 - was wondering if anyone new of a "quick fix" to solve my issue?

Thanks

Antony

I used to be able to hit the right and left arrow keys to move to the
adjacent cells. Now it shifts the entire worksheet to the right or
the left, and I can't figure out how to change it back. Thanks for
any help.

My arrow keys are no longer working. For example, in Excel, if I press the
right arrow and I am in column B, Row 1-it takes me to Column A, Row 2, not
Column A, Row 1. My daughter has not been able to play video games recently
because the arrows are taking her in the wrong direction. This happens with
every arrow. Please help.

Now that I have upgraded to Office XP, a macro in one
existing file no longer works. It worked fine in Excel
2000. The macro was probably created in Excel 97.

Macros created in other workbooks work just fine in Excel
XP. But any macro created in that specific existing
workbook do not work. The workbook has protection on it,
but it is disabled when I enter the password at open time.

What's up? Macro security is set to Medium.

Thanks

I've noticed lately that my arrow keys don't work if I want to navigate to
different cells in my Excel workbooks. Any idea what might have caused this?

No luck finding an answer? You could always try Google.
