Excel will not move from cell to cell with arrows, only scrolls

Excel will not allow me to move from cell to cell in the normal method. If I
use the up/down/left/right arrows it scrolls the entire page.

Excel stoped allowing me to use the arrow keys to move from cell to cell.
Now I can only scroll. This is very frustrating.

I don't know what button I hit but now the page scrolls up and I need to move
from cell to cell with my arrow keys.

in a machine with all office updates and xp sp2, when using excell (2000) if
you move from cell to cell either to edit data or just to format a group of
cells it takes about a minute. even in a new empty excel spread sheet.

is there a setting or maybe one of the updates cause the program to do a
search or something to delay the switching between cells?

any help would be appreciated.

Please help. I must have unintentionally changed a setting. In Excel 2003,
when I move from cell to cell holding the top/bottom/left or right arrows
down, it moves very slow from cell to cell. Also when editing a cell, it
moves very slow to move within that particular cell with the arrow keys.

I haven't changed anything in options, etc. It just started doing it. The
cursor works fine when moving it in Word. I have re-booted 3 times. I have
tried another keyboard. I don't know what else to do. Scroll lock is off.

My arrow keys are moving the screen instead of moving from cell to cell. I'm
not sure what I did or how to get it back to normal.

Tap the Scroll Lock key and try to move. If it doesn’t work then do Unfreeze
Pane Alt+W+F and check now.
Remember to Click Yes, if this post helps!

For some reason now when I use the arrow buttons they move the view bar up
down left right instead of moving from cell to cell. If anyone has any
suggestions how to change it back it would make my life much easier. I use
them tons and now it is killing me!!

My friend is working w/ Excel & every workbook she opens, she's unable to use the right & left arrow keys to scroll from cell to cell. Instead, right & left arrow keys are controlling the page up & page over functions. She's closed & reopened Excel & still has the same problem. She just sent me the file she was originally working on, and I didn't have the same issue. Does anyone know how she can change her settings to be able to use right & left arrows to move from cell to cell? Thanks so much & may all beings be happy!

On the keyboard, the arrow keys when used move the screen instead of moving
to the next cell. How do I switch back to moving from cell to cell?

something happened to my worksheet that I can't use arrow keys to move from cell to cell but have to hit enter. How do I fix it back?

Hello all,
I know this is a sooo basic question but I can not for the life of me remember how.....
when I am on a excel sheet I can not seem to move from quare to square qiththe arrow keys.
It just now takes me all the way to the left or all the way to the right and not from cell to cell from left to right.

I know its something rather simple yet I can not seem to figure this out.
I have no problem with this on 2003pro.

I have 2000 at work and trying to get this sheet back to normal any help would be wonderful.
Thank you,

Today when I opened up my Excel program the entire worksheet moves when I
move from column to column, row to row. For example if I'm in cell A1 and
move to B1, the A column disappears off my screen. Same with the rows. I
know that it's something simple, just don't know where to look. Thanks for
your help in advance!

I am trying to create a speadsheet for use with a barcode scanner. What I need it to do is this: when I scan a barcode into the appropriate cell I want it to enter the scanned data then to move to another cell to recieve the next scan.

As an example: I scan the shelf location, then move to the next cell to scan the item barcode, then move to another cell to enter quantity.

Basically what I need is a very simple inventory setup. I just don't know how to construct the formulas needed to make it jump from cell to cell.

I have a multi work book spreadsheet with a lot of validated cells (2003). A few of the individuals that are required to use it have problems moving from cell to cell. It hangs up, some times taking 3 or 4 minutes to move. These individuals are also using a lap top. I on the other hand have your basic table top PC and do not have any problems at all. Does anyone know what could be causing this to happen.

Yes, I've checked the scroll is turned off. Keys worked for
the user until he added a toolbar and hit reset. From that time on the
arrow keys did not move from cell to cell.

Why do my excel documents not open from the desktop? I can only open
documents when I am already in Excel. I assume some setting is off. Where
should I look? Thanks

I have a worksheet in which Excel does not allow me to change the alignment of a range of cells from, say, left-justified to centered.

I am experienced with Excel/VBA and have not seen this before. The cells are not protected and do contain numerical data. If I add a leading apostrophe to the cell values to have them treated as strings, I can then align the cells however I like. When those cells contain numerical data, Excel will not allow me to change the alignment from left-justified, regardless of whether I use a toolbar, the Format tab, or VBA.

Any ideas?

I have a column of data I need to add with Excel. The data is available to
the public on the Internet as an HTML document (originally a .zip file). The
..html file is shown in Windows Explorer with a Windows Internet Explorer

The data is shown by Excel as a spreadsheet with 6 columns. It is possible
to move the Excel columns around so they appear to line up with the data.
Even though it 'appears' to be a normal spreadsheet, Excel will not add
anything. The data is treated as text. Attempting to add the cells results in
a total of 0. I have not been able to work out changing any of the columns to
a format where the numbers can be added.

I'm a beginner at this, but thought I understood that what you see is what
you get - - apparently Not.

I've also tried copying portions of the .html file and saving it as a .txt
file with Wordpad. However this will not import as anything that appears
compatible with an Excel spreadsheet.

At one point I found a "text import wizard" that appeared to work on part of
the data - - but I can not find a way to access it again, and the terms do
not appear in the Excel help file.

What is the best approach for this?

is there a setting that isn't allowing my arrow keys to work in Excel?
Additionally, my cursor will not select a cell - it only highlites cells. I
can't use the menu bar or even quit out of excel with Ctrl+Alt+Del. Arrow
keys and cursor work in all other applications

I just started using a new PC and all of my excel settings were lost. Before
I could use my arrow keys to move from cell to cell or select data. Now when
I press my arrow keys I stay in the same cell, but my spreadsheet scrolls up
or down. I do not know what feature needs to be activated to enable me to
use the arrow keys to move from cell to cell.

Please help, its driving me nuts.

I have files with loads of worksheets (about 100 each). When I enter data, it
is different for each sheet but I want to be in the same location on each
sheet. I start on my first sheet, locate the place I want to enter data and
enter the data into the cell. Now comes the problem - when I move to sheet 2,
I am in the active cell where I was last time I was in this sheet, not in the
same location as I have just left on sheet 1. I want to move from sheet to
sheet but stay in the same cell - can this be done? It was like this when I
used Lotus 123 but I can't seem to do it in Excel. Any help gratefully
received! BeanoKid

I used to be able to move from cell to cell from left to right with the tab
key and hit enter and go back to the first column. Somehow my computer got
changed and I do not know how to reset it.

I have a macro that I need help finishing.On the specific page I have used a
find to find the appropriate starting point. Once this is found, and it will
be different each time the macro runs, I need to tell excel to move one cell
to the right. Then I'll cut and copy the information in that column to
another column. To the right of that column I will be entering a formula. I
need to figure out how to do this each time the macro runs but as of now, it
is selecting the specific cells. I can run it with my test file and it will
work but when I run the macro with new information, it is selecting the cells
used in the test file. I need it to proceed from the find each time. Any help
would be appreciated. Here is an excerpt from the code:

Cells.Find(What:="RIM", After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas _
, LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, _
MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False).Activate
Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=RC[-1]*RC[6]/12"
Selection.AutoFill Destination:=Range("G21:G31")
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone,
SkipBlanks _
:=False, Transpose:=False

I have a worksheet with numerous columns. Somehow, when I scroll to the
right using the scroll bar, tab or arrow keys, Excel moves from cell to cell
because each value is displayed in the bar above. However, the worksheet
doesn't move. Any ideas?

No luck finding an answer? You could always try Google.
