Hi, all!

I am not sure this can be done in VBA. In Excel itself, you can use the ASC function to convert full-width (two-byte) katakana into half-width (one-byte) katakana. I want to create a macro that will do this on all characters in a worksheet, but I am a little confused as to how to start.

The first problem is the conversion. It looks like I should use StrConv(,vbNarrow), but that leads me to the second problem: what to get the macro to search for (what that "" should be).

Is there some way to say "Any full-width text you find, convert it"? I did some looking for a logical test for Asian characters or ***anese or katakana or anything like that, but so far it looks like I'll just have to specify each kana and have it convert it, and that will be one inefficient macro. It would be worse than having it search for each capital letter in English and convert it to lowercase.

Please help me out if you can. Thank you!

Convert single word to capitals, else ignore

I have a problem with company names in a cell, what I would like is for selected cells in the active sheet, if the name is a single word, convert it to capitals. If it has more than one word, do nothing
An adaptation of the above would be. To change the single word to capitals, only with a dot between the letters. I suppose two macros would be best, and then I can attach them to buttons and, and run which ever is appropriate. The names below

Anpas
Unione Industriali di Roma
Confapi
Preside Facoltà di Economia
Unione Industriali di Roma

Macro1 would change the original to

ANPAS
Unione Industriali di Roma
CONFAPI
Preside Facoltà di Economia
Unione Industriali di Roma

Macro2 would change the original to

A.N.P.A.S
Unione Industriali di Roma
C.O.N.F.A.P.I.
Preside Facoltà di Economia
Unione Industriali di Roma

Thank you for your time

If the column number is in A1, you can use this formula (tested only a little
bit)

=IF(INT((A1)/26)>0,CHAR(64+INT((A1)/26)),"")&CHAR(MOD(A1,26)+64)

I am working in excel and am placing a formula in diferent cells. I would
like to be able to convert a column number to the letter representation.
such as 1 would be A and 27 would be AA and so on. Here is the code I am
working with.

For col = 1 To 16 Step 1
If Cells(1, col) > Cells(1, 1) Then
Cells(4, col).Formula = "=LOOKUP(" & toLetter(col) & "4,2:2,3:3 )"
End If
Next col

It it the toLetter(col) that i need to work. I know that function doesnt
exist by that name. Any help on how to do this in excel would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks

How do I convert a date to a string in VBA?

	VB:

'a is being read from a cell in excel that is a date
a = "2/3/2006"

So how do I get the variable a to act like a string. When I attempt to add to another string in excel I receive an error.

Thanks in advance.

I am not good in excel.

Can some one please help me to convert (calculated) zero to blank cell in a column? The calculated means zero is not typed in but is calculated from other cells by using formula.

Due to this calculated zero, most of the replies from all experts does not seem to be working. It was my fault as i did not make it clear in the beginning.

I have attached the sample spreadsheet.

Appreciate your help.

thanks.

Note to experts - Please try to reply again. Thank you.

I need a formula to convert net tons to long tons in an Excel Spreasdsheet.

Hi Guys,

I have a database of textstrings where a lot of them start with some numbers or lower case letters. I want to eliminate them as all important information always start with the first capital letter of a text string. How can I find out what is the position of the first capital letter, so that I can delete all characters in front of them?

Any suggestion?

Cheers,
hegisin

I have this code which is supposed to change the input of a textbox to Capital letters only, but I'm not sure where to put it?

The textbox is on a userform.

' Make the TextBox convert input to UPPERCASE.
Private Sub SetAllCaps(ByVal txt As TextBox)
Const GWL_STYLE = (-16)
Const ES_UPPERCASE = &H8&

Dim style As Long

    style = GetWindowLong(txt.hwnd, GWL_STYLE)
    style = style Or ES_UPPERCASE
    SetWindowLong txt.hwnd, GWL_STYLE, style
End Sub

Hi Freinds,

How we can type the letters i.e abc in TextBox that it will show only in Capital Letters.

Thanks

SYED HAIDER ALI

I have data that comes into a sheet like

CountryCode | DateLastAccessed |

I would like to insert spaces before each capitalized letter. in the example,

Country Code | Date Last Accessed |

I've thought about using the Chr code in VBA, looping through each string, but I feel like this could be handled with more finesse. Ideas?

Thanks. Ben.

Is there a way to represent the number of characters in a cell as a number.

e.g. if "****" (not including the quotes) appears in cell A1, can you represent that as the number 4 in cell A1?

I'm familiar with =LEN(A1), but that requires presenting it in a different cell. I'm attempting to convert character count to number in same cell. Thanks for any help.

What's the quickest way to convert an explicitly described range (A1:B15) to a range name in a formula, if you've created the range after already writing the formula?

In a similar vein, is there a way to convert ALL such addresses to range names in one step, or must they be done one at a time?

Thanks,

Jeff

current column is mixed upper and lower case names. I want the entire column
to be capital letters.

In excel, how can i type any letters and it will turn to capital letter
automatically?

I need to scramble the letters in a long list of names (i.e., from mary to
yamr). Does anyone know a way to do that?
Thank you

Hello,

I'm working on a lead report and I'm stumped. I'm new to the forums and was wondering if any of you could help me out.

I'm working on two tabs, the second of which uses column information from the first so each cell in Tab 2 contains =Tab1!F53

What I want to do is change that F to another letter in all instances in the column, is this possible?

Thank you in advance!

Hi there,

I am using a for loop below to move selected ranges. i need to be able to modify this to move the range when 3 capital letters in a row are found as the cell value

For Rw = 1 To Range("C" &
Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
    With Range("C" & Rw)

If Left(Range("C" & Rw), 3) = XXXXXXXX Then ' In place of XXXXXXX i need a function to determine
whether 3 consecutive capital letters are found
            Call Found(Rw, 0, 0, "A") ' Selects & Moves Range("C" &
RW) with 0 rows above and 0 rows below to column A
            GoTo NextRw: ' NextRw
        End If

I have a time sheet spreadsheet with the following formula for each day of the week (=IF(P8>8,8,P8)+IF(Q8>8,8,Q8)+IF(R8>8,8,R8)+IF(S8>8,8,S8)....i'm adding the straight time hours worked each day and anything over the 8 hours straight goes inton a overtime col. My problem is when i enter a "S" for out sick or "V" for vaction in a cell i get an error.

Is there anyway to have the formula ignore letters in a cell and keep the math formula ?

No luck finding an answer? You could always try Google.
