Flash Video in Powerpoint

I for the most part know how to post a flash video in a powerpoint. Mostly youtube though. I was wondering if anyone knew what I had to enter in the movie value for the following link to work in powerpoint.

how do block the insert of videos and musics in powerpoint?

Hello everyone,

How do block the insert of videos and musics in powerpoint 2003 and 2007?

Thanks,
Giovanni.

Hello,

I've got a file that works just fine in Excel 2003 and 2007, but won't open in 2010. It's got a series of flash videos (via YouTube) embedded (about 10) and when Excel 2010 opens the file, it just hangs, and the status bar at the bottom says "Contacting the server for information. Press ESC to cancel". It then crashes after some time. Note that if I have one video, it's fine, though there is a 3 or 4 second lag while Excel 2010 "contacts the server" but when I bring it up to 3 or 4, it causes Excel to crash.

I'd really appreciate some help on this. Is there anything I can do to make Excel 2010 not "contact the server".

You can find an example of a file that causes this error here: http://www.exceleverest.com/DownloadDemo.aspx

Cheers!
Sean

Is there a way to have a streaming video (*.asx) play in powerpoint?

I tried to add it by clicking the 'add movie from file' button, it said it needed to be stored locally.

If I click insert, object, windows media player. I can add a media player in the presentation, but I would figure that it would need to have the web address added in VB but don't know how.

I am trying to embed an Excel file as an OLEObject in Powerpoint. Unfortunately I get an error when I run the following:

Dim meName As String
myFileName = "C:EReportsFeb2012.xlsx"
'MsgBox "The following file has been automatically created and embedded in the presentation: " & vbNewLine & vbNewLine & "'" & myFileName & "'", vbOKOnly
Dim XLFile As PowerPoint.Shape
Set XLFile = ppSlide.Shapes.AddOLEObject(filename:=myFileName, Link:=msoFalse, DisplayAsIcon:=msoTrue)

However, it runs fine if I uncomment the MsgBox for some reason! Any ideas?!?

I created a plot in excel that shows the change in costs with time. I also included a scroll bar that will show the change in cost with time. But, when I try to include this chart in powerpoint, the scrollbar does not show up. I have tried embedding the excel file and that does not work either? Will I need to write a macro to put the scroll bar in powerpoint and how will I link the cell to the scroll bar?

Does anyone know how to Superscript part of a datalabel in PowerPoint from Excel VBA.

The following code works.

	VB:

 oGraph.SeriesCollection(rowX)
    For colY = 1 To .Points.Count
        .Points(colY).DataLabel.Caption = .Points(colY).DataLabel.Caption & "ABC"
    Next
End With

But I am unable to Superscript the "ABC".

Assign shortkut keys in Powerpoint 2007

I try to assign shortcut keys to formatting (font, superscript etc) but I cannot find that feature in Powerpoint 2007. Is this possible?

Hi Everyone,

I'm a relative beginner when it comes to VBA in Powerpoint, although I've been VBA'ing in Excel for quite a while now...

Is the a method in Powerpoint similar to that of GetSaveAsFilename in Excel where I can get a user to pick a filepath to save a file to and then use that string in code?

Basically I am creating a powerpoint file with data input by the user but I need the user to pick where they want to save it before the macro continues running.

Many thanks for any help/ideas,
Ian

Hello
Is it possible to save the value of a variable in powerpoint?
Benny

Hi,

I have a VBA script in powerpoint that generates a large data model chart based upon a flat text file script. It's all good except for two things which I think are impossible to do but wanted to check to see if anyone had some top tips that could help me...

1. The data model chart is BIG and ideally I could do with the page being wider than 56" but powerpoint seems to have a limit at 56". Any suggestions for ways around that?

2. The chart is too big to print out on a single sheet of A4 but most of my users only have A4 so want the option to be able to print the chart across many sheets of A4 (I know, I know, that's a lot of paper...users!) I can't seem to find an option to do this in powerpoint. One option is to copy the chart across to excel and print from there but that's a little clunky....any others?

thanks!

John

I have a script in an excel table that I have put in powerpoint which I would like to run in a powerpoint slideshow - using the mouseclick action.

Is there anyway to do this?

If that isn't possible, is it possible to make a macro in powerpoint that manipulates cells in an excel object? And what would the address be? (an "address" usable in the parent powerpoint) I thought something like the following would work, but it doesn't:
ActiveWindow.Selection.SlideRange.Shapes("Object 11568").Workbook(1).Worksheets(1).Range("A1:B5") = "AB"

I also thought of making a button in the excel file and then embeding it in the powerpoint file. Unfortunately, the button does not work either. How would I get the button to work.. or at least how would I get the script that is linked to that button to work from inside a powerpoint slide show (using the mouseover or mouseclick action)?

Here is the sample file, could you take a look?

This is quite urgent, so I would be really appreciative for any help!

I have excel links in powerpoint that are set to manual update. How can I get them to update using VBA? (i.e. the equivalent of going to Edit, Links, selecting all links and clicking Update Now.). I tried using

	VB:

activepresentation.updatelinks

Hi guys,

I have this VBA code which I use for transferring data from my data sheet to slides in PowerPoint - it works fine.

However in PowerPoint I'm currently forced to transfer data to "text-objects" which is a bit of a drag because I'm used to working in a table in Powerpoint when organizing data.

Therefore my question is how to edit my VBA code so I can transfer data to a table in PowerPoint instead of an object.

Thanks.
Here's the VBA code:

	VB:

 TDPTest()
    Dim shtStudent As Worksheet
    Dim strMedarbejder As String
    Dim strTitel As String
    Dim strFastholdelse As String
    Dim lngRow As Long
    Dim objPPT As Object
    Dim objPres As Object
    Dim objSld As Object
    Dim objShp As Object

    Set shtStudent = Worksheets("Ark1")

    Set objPPT = CreateObject("Powerpoint.Application")
    objPPT.Visible = True
    Set objPres = objPPT.presentations.Open(ThisWorkbook.Path & "JBX_test.ppt")
    objPres.SaveAs ThisWorkbook.Path & "TDPTest.ppt"

    lngRow = 2
    Do While shtStudent.Cells(lngRow, 2) ""

        strMedarbejder = shtStudent.Cells(lngRow, 1)
        strTitel = shtStudent.Cells(lngRow, 2)
        strFastholdelse = shtStudent.Cells(lngRow, 3)

        Set objSld = objPres.slides(1).Duplicate
        For Each objShp In objSld.Shapes
            If objShp.HasTextFrame Then
                If objShp.TextFrame.HasText Then
                    objShp.TextFrame.TextRange.Replace "", strMedarbejder
                    objShp.TextFrame.TextRange.Replace "", strTitel
                    objShp.TextFrame.TextRange.Replace "", strFastholdelse
                End If
            End If
        Next
        lngRow = lngRow + 1
    Loop
    objPres.slides(1).Delete
    objPres.Save
    objPres.Close

End Sub

Hi there,

I have a table of data that I update in Excel and I would like to link this into a Powerpoint slide. If I make updates within the Excel table (and saving) I would like the same updates to be reflected in Powerpoint (dynamic link?)

Many thanks,

Andy

Hello,

I created a PowerPoint presentation and embedded a few Excel objects in different slides. The data within these Excel objetcs is linked to a simple Excel spreadsheet. This Excel spreadsheet gets updated monthly so I want the figures in the Excel object in PowerPoint to get updated monthly as well. As I don't want to doubleclick every singe Excel object and then update the values manually by clicking on Edit, Links, Update Values I thought I can create a macro that goes into every single Excel object and updates the values automatically. Is that possible? I have tried it but not successfully. The macro does not update the links.

I don't want to copy the data from Excel and paste special in PowerPoint as a link which gets updated automatically as I want to use a different format in the PowerPoint Excel Object than I do in Excel.

I would appreciate any ideas / help.

Thank you,

Vasilis

Hi there,

I have a PPT deck with roughly 60 slides that needs updating once a month. Each slide has a single enhanced metafile picture copied from an Excel deck, where worksheet 1 is the content for slide 1 of the deck. I can't embed the graphs because the file size is too big. So my question: Is there a way (a macro, a linking technique) to have these pasted graphs updated in Powerpoint automatically when a change is made in Excel? This would save me a ton of time each month!

Thanks,
Dino

In order to simulate something for a customer, I want to embed a spreadsheet with various formulas on it, and then create a button in PowerPoint that can be clicked to open a UserForm and update the fields to auto-update the spreadsheet and the simulation.

I can get the spreadsheet it was copied from to update, but not the embedded spreadsheet.

Here's the code I'm currently using, and I'm sure that there's a better way that I just don't know about.

Code:
Any better way to go about this?

I have created an interactive Excel pie chart that enables the user to change
the year to display with a set of radio dials within a group box. My
colleague likes it so much that he was asking whether he can insert it in a
PowerPoint presentation.

It sounds like a non starter to me as I don't know how to make PowerPoint
mimic Excel in this fashion. I was going to offer inserting a hyperlink in
PowerPoint that takes him to the Excel worksheet where this pie chart
resides. Alternatively, I was going to suggest inserting in his PowerPoint
presentation static pictures of the chart.

Am I missing something? Is there anyway to give him what he asked for?

Tried this in Worksheet Functions and didn't get a response. Any MVPs around?
-----------
General: Why will links created between two Excel spreadsheets NOT update
properly when the target Excel file is embedded in a PowerPoint chart/file? I
created the original set of files on my desktop and then uploaded to a
SharePoint site?

Specifics: I linked cells between an Excel source file and an Excel target
file. I then embedded the target file in a PowerPoint file/chart. As
expected, when I change data in the source file, the data changes are linked
into the target file that exists in the PowerPoint file. Works great!

But I really want to place all three files together in a SharePoint site.
When I change source data in the SharePoint file, the Excel target file still
updates OK; the linkage was preserved when I uploaded the two Excel files.
However, the (target) Excel file embedded in PowerPoint does not update. I
looked at the linked cell in the embedded Excel file; it is still pointing
back to the original target file on the Desktop.

Guess this makes sense if uploading a PowerPoint file from Desktop into
SharePoint does not preserved embedded Excel links.

So what do I do? Is it necessary to create all the linkages from within
SharePoint? Can I safely move the files back and forth between SharePoint and
Desktop (or anywhere on the PC) in a way that the linked cells are updated as
desired?

I have a script in an excel table that I have put in powerpoint which I
would like to run in a powerpoint slideshow - using the mouseclick
action.

Is there anyway to do this?

If that isn't possible, is it possible to make a macro in powerpoint
that manipulates cells in an excel object?

What would the address be? I thought something like the following would
work, but it doesn't:
ActiveWindow.Selection.SlideRange.Shapes("Object
11568").Workbook(1).Worksheets(1).Range("A1:B5") = "AB"

I also thought of making a button in the excel file and then embeding
it in the powerpoint file. Unfortunately, the button does not work
either. How would I get the button to work.. or at least how would I
get the script that is linked to that button to work from inside a
powerpoint slide show (using the mouseover or mouseclick action)?

Here is 'the sample file' (http://ep.pe.kr/sample2.ppt), could anyone
take a look?

This is quite urgent, so I would be really appreciative for any help!

Is there a way to export graphs in Excel to be used in PowerPoint
presentations? (Not cut & paste). I'd appreciate some feedback, sorry
if this is a stupid question.

I found out that the links did not work in Powerpoint because I had a '#'
symbol in the title of my Excel file. Once the symbols were removed they
worked fine. Thanks for trying.

I have a couple of linked Excel graphs that change in size within their
PowerPoint presentation when the information in Excel that makes up the
graphs is changed.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening all the time? Changing the
data within Excel is easy, but then to resize everything again in PowerPoint
is monotonous.

I'm using Office 2003.

Thanks in advance.

How can you link from excel 2007 to a specific slide in PowerPoint 2007?
This work in the older versions by just puting a # and the page number. Now
it's not wroking since we have updated to MS Office 2007.

No luck finding an answer? You could always try Google.
