I hit something by mistake which changed the way my arrow keys interact with
Excel. The arrow keys now scroll the page instead of changing the active
cell. How do I change this back?

I just started using a new PC and all of my excel settings were lost. Before
I could use my arrow keys to move from cell to cell or select data. Now when
I press my arrow keys I stay in the same cell, but my spreadsheet scrolls up
or down. I do not know what feature needs to be activated to enable me to
use the arrow keys to move from cell to cell.

Please help, its driving me nuts.

Thanks,
Monica

Every now and then when I'm using Excel 2003, my arrow keys will start
moving the frame around (as if I were scrolling) instead of moving
between cells. Is that because my scroll lock is on?

There is no light indicating if the scroll lock is on - I mean, there
is no such light on my laptop at all. Is there any way to tell within
Excel or on my PC?

Windows XP Pro SP2
Compaq Evo N800c

My arrow keys are moving the screen instead of moving from cell to cell. I'm
not sure what I did or how to get it back to normal.

Thanks

I opened up Excel and tried to move across cells with the arrow keys. Instead, the page scrolled as if I was hitting the scroll bar with mouse. The active cell did not move, it would just scroll off the page.

Enter and tab still work to move the cell down/to the right, respectively (and shift enter moves up). When I go into a cell and try to enter a formula, it still scrolls instead of moving to the reference cell when pressing the arrow keys (but I can select the cell with the mouse).

I played with the options but there was nothing that I could find.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Any advice would be appreciated.

On the keyboard, the arrow keys when used move the screen instead of moving
to the next cell. How do I switch back to moving from cell to cell?

I was working in Excel on a spreadsheet, when suddenly my ARROW keys stopped
working normally. They now scroll my worksheet left and right, rather than
before, when they moved me from active cell to active cell left and right.

Anyone know how I can restore the normal use of my arrow keys?

Thanks,
Mark Vermillion

I don't know what button I hit but now the page scrolls up and I need to move
from cell to cell with my arrow keys.

Suddenly when I use the arrow keys on the keyboard the sheet shift with the
keys instead of moving from one cell to another.

I remember having this problem with all excells and usally I have reboot
every time.

Using Windows XP EXCEL, my arrow keys, which normally move from cell to cell,
became scroll keys, moving the entire sheet up-down or right-left. I am
unable to find how this came about or how to return to the original
operation. HELP! (and what topic in the help file covers this?)

I have Excel 2000, and for some reason when I try to move around the
spreadsheet using the arrow keys on the keyboard, the cursor stays on the
cell and the entire worksheet moves up, down, left or right. The same thing
is true when I try to scoll down the spread sheet using the scoll tool on my
mouse.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bert

When I get into excel, my arrow keys act as scrollers instead of move around the boxes. How do I change them so they function normally. I don't know how they got changed, but its real annoying.

If I open a blank workbook and unlock every cell but one, I'll use D4 as my example, then Protection-Protect Sheet with only "Select unlocked cells" checked my arrow keys randomly move me to different places on the sheet. They stop taking me to the cell that corresponds with the direction I press.

If remove the protection or re-protect with "Select locked cells" checked the arrow keys all work normally. I would like to be able keep users from selecting locked cells and use their arrow keys.

Excel will not allow me to move from cell to cell in the normal method. If I
use the up/down/left/right arrows it scrolls the entire page.

I have one text column that when I am in a cell, my arrow keys and Home and
End keys work backwards. Left is Right .... ect. Also, when I tab out
of the cell, the last two characters are moved to the frount of the cell.
'Hello??' becomes '??Hello'.

Any ideas as to what happened ??

I used to be able to use the arrow keys to move around cells but now they
scroll the page. This is happening in files that don't have freeze frames and
ones that do.
I have to place the cursor with my mouse.
Is there a setting that inadvertantly got set?
Thanks

I have looked through this forum and found a couple of threads related to my issue, but none provided relief.

Whenever I paste rows from one spreadsheet into the other, it just overwrites the next rows instead of moving them downwards, no matter if I right-click on "insert copied cells", ctrl + v or just paste. There must be something in the default options I can change. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot!

I am relatively new to Excel 2007 and my arrow keys do not navigate cell by cell. When I press the right or left arrow keys, my entire screen shifts to the right or left but the cursor STAYS in the cell where it was. Likewise, when I press the up or down arrow keys the screen shifts up or down but again, the cursor remains where it was. Is there an option somewhere that I need to change?

I've noticed lately that my arrow keys don't work if I want to navigate to
different cells in my Excel workbooks. Any idea what might have caused this?

Hi,

I need to create a macro that can be used to increment/decrement the
numeric contents of a cell based on repeatedly pressing the up or down
arrows. Each key press would modify the cell by a standard increment.
Up arrow would increase it and Down arrow woud decrease it.

Can anyone suggest an approach and perhaps a code example? I am not
very versed in VBA programming.

Thanks,
Jack

all of a sudden my arrow keys do not work in my worksheet. Before when they
would go to the next cell ,depending on which key i pushed. now it won't?

thanks

Hi! I need some help. I have this program simulating the upward movement of some cells. My problems are:

1) The only red font should be "M", but in this case, the red font color stays on the initial cell position of the M. I need a code (or some way) to retain the font color of the "M" as it moves up.

2) There should be no "*" outside the 20x30 grid. After the characters move up, some * are left below the grid.

Here's my code:
Private Declare Sub Sleep Lib "kernel32" (ByVal dwMilliseconds As Long)
Dim cnt As Integer

Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()

cnt = 1

    Range("A1:AD20").ColumnWidth = 2
    Range("A1:AD20").Value = "*"
    Cells(22, "O").Value = "M"
    Cells(22, "O").Font.ColorIndex = 3
    Range("N23:P26").Value = "#"

End Sub

Private Sub CommandButton2_Click()

If cnt = 0 Then
    MsgBox "Please click setup first"
End If

For ctr = 20 To 1 Step -1

    Store = Cells(ctr, 15).Value
    Data = Cells(ctr + 1, "O").Value
    Cells(ctr, "O").Value = Data
    Cells(ctr + 1, "O").Value = Store

    Store1 = Cells(ctr + 1, 15).Value
    Data1 = Cells(ctr + 2, 15).Value
    Cells(ctr + 1, 15).Value = Data1
    Cells(ctr + 2, 15).Value = Store1

Hi there,

I've programmed before but I'm new to VB so please help me. I want to have a user select a cell (any cell in a column) in the worksheet and then he/she should be able to press the "UP" or "DOWN" arrow keys to navigate through values. It is similar to a drop down menu. For example I would have predefined values such "STOP","GO","START". When the user selects the cell and hit the arrow key once, the value of the cell changes to "GO", hit the arrow key again, the value changes to "STOP", and so on....
thank you any help!

Can anyone help me? I have done something to the spread sheet I am using
and now i am unable to navigate from cell to cell using the arrow keys
on the key board which i'm finding extremely stressful, please help!!!!
