Hyperlink Screen Tips in Excel

Hi All

I paste Hyperlinks into Excel, When I paste them, they are highlighted and
have Screen Tips if your hover the mouse over them. The Screen Tips look
like Comments you can give a Cell. What I'd like to do is if the Screentip
hyperlink in column (I) has the word "uk" in it I'd like that Row to turn
Yellow. Would it be possible so I could press a macro button to search the
highlighted cells and look for uk and make those rows yellow.

Thanks in Advance

Dave

Tool Tips entered in a Hyperlink Screen Tip in Excel 2000 for Windows
displays in a different typeface (font) when opened with Excel X for
Macintosh. The problem is reversed if the Screen Tip is entered in Excel X
and opened/viewed in Excel 2000.

Both "incorrect" Screen Tips are displayed in none readable string. If the
file is reopened on the originating platform, the Screen Tip is intact if
the string has not been edited.

Any ideas to make the Hyperlink Screen Tips cross platform.

Hi

I'm working with text boxes in Excel that have hyperlinks attached to defined names on a worksheet. Basically just to navigate around a large sheet.

They work fine, but when the mouse is hovered over the text box it automatically displays the address of the defined name, which looks messy and I want to get rid of it.

I have tried inserting a single space in the screen tip box, but that displays a small rectangular box. I have also tried "" hoping nullstring maybe interpreted as not to display, but it instead displays the speech marks.

Has anybody done this before? I've seen it done, but I have no idea how the model creator did it.

Very much appreciate any help.

Chris

I would like to have the screen tip within a hyperlink to get it's "tip" from a cell reference in a separate work sheet. How can I do this?

I have hyperlinked certain cells in excel. When I click the hyperlink, the cell hyperlinked appears at the bottom left hand corner of the excel sheet. Is there any way to change this so the cell will appear at the top left of the screen?

If the question is not clear let me know and i take some screenshots to illustrate.

Thanks thanks ((:

Hi all,

I have a workbook that I have set up a lot of Hyperlinks in for navigation.
Without editing each individual hyperlink, is there an easy way that I can :

1. Change the Screen Tip text in all of them to read the same (this would be my compromise solution)

OR even better

2. Switch the Screen Tips off altogether (this would be my ideal solution)

Thanks in advance.

Doug

I have an excel spreadsheet that I use to list data on some products. I have
a hyperlink for each job I have that links to a performance data spreadsheet
for the product, specific to the job.

If I open this spreasheet in excel 2002 and insert a hyperlink to the file,
the hyperlink works until I save the file. Also, when the hyperlink is
functional you will get the tool-tip that shows where the file is, once it os
"broken" i.e. does not work, the tool tip is gone. Also, if you right-click
you do not see the edit hyperlink option, you have to go to insert menu and
select hyperlink to edit the link.

After it is "broken" if I open the spreasheet in excel 2000 the link still
does not work, but if I go to insert hyperlink and browse for the file, it
shows that a relative reference is appended to the beginning of hte
hyperlink, so the path does not exist. Once I fix it, it all works OK in
Excel 2000, but as soon as i open in excel 2002 it stops working again.

I have noticed when using Excel 2003 the right hand scroll bar screen tip
(showing row number) is not available. Word 2003 displays the page number
when scrolling through a document. Earlier versions of Excel show row
numbers in a similar way.

Does anyone know if Excel 2003 has this function and if so, how can I
activate it please?

Thank you for your assistance.

We have some computer stations with Excel 98 and windows 2000 and then the
newer computers are set up with Excel 2003 and windows xp. When I create an
Excel 2003 file with hyperlinks, the links cannot be found in Excel 98 with
windows 2000. Does anybody know how to make this work?

I recently upgraded one computer to excel 2003. When a hyperlink is created
in Excel 2003 I can not open it in excel 2000 (on my lap top). As message
comes up saying path or file name may have changed.

I know in Excel 2003 you could use hyperlinks to link to outlook data in an excel cell.
ex:
Outlook:Inbox

However, in 2007 i get the cannot open file or some such other nonsense.

Is there a way to make excel 2007 recognize the " Outlook: " deal in hyperlinks or has that function been removed.

If so is there another way to do this. I have searched high and low for a solution.

Cheers, Axe

How to maintain the hyperlink in the pdf while performing excel to pdf
conversion. If hyperlink is there in excel it must be available in pdf file
after conversion.

Hi everyone. It's my first post to this forum so I'd like to say hello.

Could You give me a tip?
In Excel menu->Data->Groups And Conspects->Group option is located. How can I achieve the same effect from VBA code?

Greetings. P.

I vould like to make hyperlinks without any kind of screen tips, automatic or
with my text, between Excel workbooks!

In Excel 2003 if you enter custom header or customer footer there are 9-10
formatting buttons that you can use in the header dialog box. Examples of the
format buttons include: the file name button, date button, font button etc...
In all Microsoft Office programs if you point to a button on the tool bars
with the mouse it will provide you with a screen tip, letting you know what
the buttons function is. That is every where except in the header/ footer
dialog box. i would like to know why and where can I find out the description
of each button?

Greetings and TIA for your time.
When typing a standard excel function directly into a cell a screen tip is
displayed showing the function arguments. This is an excellent time saver
when using unfamiliar functions. The current argument to be typed is shown in
bold text. Is there any way to add this feature to User Defined Functions?

Dear All

I have a Hyperlink which appears in a cell as a result of an IF statement in that cell. Is there a way of either suppressing or changing the text in the Screen Tip box so that it does not show the path to the link location on hover ?

Also is there a way of being able to follow the link without having the cell unlocked on a protected sheet ?

Any help much appreciated

I would like to create an email hyperlink in an excel cell that will link to an email distribution list/contact group instead of an individual email address. I have tried inserting each email individually, but it makes my 'TO' line look very messy, and some of the recipients I would like to cc versus send to. Is there a way to hyperlink an email distribution list/contact group in excel? I am using Microsoft Office Suite 2010 on a pc.

Hi,

The MS Office application at my workplace was recently upgraded to v.2010 from v.2000.

In Excel 2000, whenever the active cell contained a hyperlink, pressing the key would open (or follow) the hyperlink. This feature does not seem to be present in Excel 2010.

Is there any setting that will restore this functionality?

As a workaround, I've got an auto-open macro that uses the ONKEY method to follow hyperlinks when + key combination is pressed. However, my preference is to find an Excel setting that would get me there.
