My customized toolbar reverts back to original settings. Why?!?!

I customize my Excel 2002 toolbar. But periodically, when I start Excel up,
it reverts back to the original settings. After a few frustrating times of
having to re-do the toolbars to my own specifications, I tried setting up my
very own "new" toolbar (instead of editing the existing ones) so that if the
original settings were restored, I could just unclick those toolbars and
click my own. But when Excel decides to restore the original settings, even
my new custom toolbar has disappeared. Any answers? Many thanks.

Hi guys,

Just joined up here at Mr. Excel, looks like a very active community

A quick question for you guys:

I need to apply an autofilter on a worksheet to do some ascending/descending sorting, but at the same time the order in which the sheet is originally setup is also important.

So is it possible to revert back to the initial order after you have applied a sort, short of not saving the actual file?

Thanks

When I change the column width on a sheet in a workbook and than save it and
select another sheet and then go back to the sheet I had changed, it reverts
back to the previous column size.
I am trying to change the width of the columns so the worksheet prints on
one page. As it is the columns are too wide across so it prints on two pages.
The column headings are formatted to word wrap. I have tried to set column
widths by going to format and than column and than setting column width and I
have tried to click and drag columns to width I want. It works until I leave
that page and than come back to it.

Hello everyone, currently im doing a checklist for a school project and in need of help badly. I have over 300+ checks. What I want to do is to whenever there is a "FAIL" in the checklist (sheet1), I want the failed checks to appear in sheet2.

How do i >
- when I deselect my check box and all the executions I have done will go back to it original format ?

- there are about 300+ checks meaning there are over 600+ check box Pass/Fail , in there anyway I can create a macro which fit all 600+ checks

- the macro that I manage to set is programmed to be appear only at designated cells; I don't want that. If lets say there are only 2 'FAIL' among the
300 checks, how do i make the it appear in sheet2 in 1st and 2nd cell and not 1st at check num. 33 and the next at check num. 231. So I want it to
be in a running sequence.

What I have done so far is when a selection is made through the check box, the remarks will appear in another worksheet through recording. Proexcelist please please help.....

This may be a stupid question but I have a worksheet full of data and I
inserted a column a where I placed an x next to important data I wanted to be
able to pull to the top. I then sort my data by column a and excel pulls all
my x'd entries to the top. Nice, that's what I wanted. Now I play with my
data some more and print the first page with the important stuff and then I
want to go back to how my data was originally entered. I tried to go to data
-> sort -> sort by -> none but I get an error that I can't sort by none. So,
how do I get back to my original view of my data?

Custom toolbar buttons are saved where? Excel loads twice bymistake and all my custom toolbar buttons get gone!!!

Hello,

I would like to be able to back up all of my custom toolbar buttons -- where
are they kept -- how do I back them up?

Thanks.

Sincerely,
Kevin Waite

Excel had its default toolbars when I opened a file this morning and my
customized toolbars were gone. There were many customized macro buttons I
created and assigned and it will take me hours to re-create these toolbars.
My Excel.XLB did not disappear and is still listed under C:Documents and
Settings<user name>Application DataMicrosoftExcel
Is there any way possible to restore my settings from yesterday when my
Excel worked fine?

Thank you for any advice!

hi guys,

i have a custom toolbar that i want to embed next to Standard Toolbar.

ie. Worksheet Menu Bar on top, Standard Toolbar below that and
my custom toolbar to the right of the Standard Toolbar

i used:

	VB:

msoFloatingBar
 'and
.Top=xxx
.Left=xxx

If you like these VB formatting tags please consider sponsoring the author in support of injured Royal Marines
to fixed it in place, however each time i open XL, my custom toolbar title shows, making it non-embedded.

Questions:
1. Any code to embed it next to Standard toolbar?
OR
2. Can we remove the title of the Custom Toolbar?

Answers to any of the above questions are very appreciated.
Thanks in advance

My company will randomly (and without warning) update our systems. Often when this happens when the computer is restarted it will reinstall MS applicaiton. In turn, I will lose my custom toolbar and have to recreate it every time this happens. Does anyone know where I could find this information within the excel files so that it could be backed up or if this is even possible?

Thanks for your time

I clicked save before I was ready and lost information on the orginal
spreadsheet. Is there a way to bring back the original spreadsheet prior to
all the changes and the save?

Help! For some reason, all my customized macro buttons have suddenly
disappeared from my customized toolbars in Excel 2003. It is thought
the program has been reset to its default state.

Am I simply out of luck, and have to re-customize Excel, or is there a
procedure that I might follow to return me to where I was?

Many thanks in advance.

I know this was posted last year but my company is now experiencing the same problem - Does anyone know why colors would revert back to default palette colors or just random colors when files are opened?

I by mistake hit the save button instead of using save as. How do I undo the
save or revert back to the original file? Thank in advance for any help.

I've downloaded a csv file from bank. The date needs to be in MM/DD/YYYY. I
type in in as text 01/01/2007 but when I save it it reverts back to date
format.

How Do I: Reset Excel 2007 back to Default Settings

Hello,

I accidentally saved over an important excel sheet that I was working on. Does anyone know if there is a way to revert back to an old save point in excel. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Has anyone else had this problem? I have Excel 2002 (10.2614.2625) running on Windows XP Pro on a Pentium D 2.8 GHz with 2GB memory. It has worked fine for years, but now... When I was opening a file that I update and save weekly, it somehow reverted back to a copy that was over five months old! All the data added and saved since then was gone. What could cause this, and how do I fix it? Thanks.

i have logic statement in workbook a. want to use same logic in new workbook
but not have it refer back to original workbook -- but use new workbook data?/

hello,
they gave me a new laptop and latest excel is installed in that. however when i use excel it always reverts back to file tab. how can i make it stay on home tab? thanks

I want to be able to set my Custom Toolbars to my personal favorite settings
and then have Excel save those customized settings forever. Now, whenever I
close and re-open Excel 2003 it always reverts back to the default factory
settings, and I must spend 5 minutes re-setting them every time!!! It is
incredibly frustrating.

Hi all,

I have the following situation. I have created my macros (some in module, some in individual worksheets so that I can fire the macro with events and some in Thisworkbook so that I can control printout event)

Then I use the custom toolbar to build a basic toolbar with all the required macros and attached it to the file so that any users can also use the toolbar. However, this custom toolbar is set to be invisible when switch to other workbooks (set this in thisworkbook).

Now, here comes the problem. Whenever I save the next version or even a new file name, the macros in the custom toolbar will automatically refers to new filename macros. Hence, all those macros in the custom toolbars that refers to macros in individual worksheets will not fire for the older file version or filename.

I need this to be "universal" as this is the master template and users will start to save new filename and even add versions to the same file name. It will not be a problem if they keep using the newest file but if they were to go back and use the older version, they will have problem of not firing the events.

Lastly, I have also tried using set abc = worksheets("def") but there are some code that uses range("a1").select
selection."the required function" and it is always at this point of time, the macro will have problem. I have also tried moving all macros out to module and using the above to refer codes back to individual worksheets that they need to be fired upon, but alas, all failed.

Please kindly advice a way which I could use a macro to let the custom toolbar to be always using the macro within this workbook or this filename.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long explanation.

Cheers,
CL

Excel 2003

Somehow my color palatte changed from default to custom. I want to change
it back to default. I've tried opening up a template that has the colors I
want, only to have it too (grr) revert to the custom palatte.

Any ideas?

In Excel 97 (on Win98) after a user customizes their toolbars, they exit and
the settings revert back to default. There is a username8.xlb files in
C:Windows but it gets changed back to defaults. Toolbars can be customized
fine in Word.

Any suggestions what might be causing this?

Thanks,

Brad
