How do I make a 3D scatter plot in Excel? Ideally I will be able to define

the viewing angle of the 3D graph. Alternaviely, are there plug-ins that can

fix this that are not too expensive? Alternatively, which other tools are

available that are not expensive and are easy to use?

I'm trying to create a scatter plot chart in excel 2007 with a label

on each point. But I can't seem to do this without creating 50

different series. I have three columns (x-axis, y-axis, and labels).

Is there a anyway to plot points and then at a separate label?

Just like school were you plotted variable x against variable y.

That way, you just get a feel for the trend, if any.

I need to do this in excel as I have 200 variables to plot, and they come from excel in the first place.

Scatter diagram would be perfect for this, as it will show outliers.

I thought that I would do a test in excel with car data, as we all live & breathe cars.

Basically 0-100 mph times should *generally* be related (correlated ??) to bhp per tonne.

Generally ??

I would expect a scatter diagram to show this quite well.

In fact my manual plot of 12 cars does this very well - except the CCX.

(the CCX is slow in relation to it's power)

However, on the below data, excel fails to produce what I want.

I want Excel to produce 'the school plot' as mentioned above.

Any ideas ?

Make 0-100 mph bhp / tonne

Ultima 5.5 666

Enzo 6.7 484

CCX 7.7 694

GT3 996 10.3 271

RS 993 11.2 240

M3 E36 12.8 215

330ci 16.6 154

M3 E30 17.8 178

Elise si 18.5 164

x Type 3L 19.8 151

MR2 21.2 141

Puma R 23.2 132

What I dont want, (and what excel produces) is a 'scattergraph' but with both values plotted - which is meaningless.

I need to create a scatter plot in Excel 2007 and I am clueless.

I have two columns, one called REASON, the other called LENGTH OF

TENURE IN DAYS.

I have selected both columns and attempted to insert a Scatter chart,

but to no avail. Can you please help?

Why is it when I work with scatter plots in Excel 2007 my dual Xeon CPU

computer with 4 GB RAM slows to a crawl? Is this a feature? It's never done

that with Excel XP, Excel 2003, or any other application.

How does one add chart and axis labels to a scatter plot? Not that I need

them, all my end users prefer scatter plots with no axis labels. That way

the charts can be interpreted any way they please. Yet another feature?

Given a scatter plot with a singe series of 4 data points, how does one add

a 2nd degree polynomial trend line to the data? And why is it when I try to

do that and display the polynomial equation on the chart a linear equation is

displayed? Is Excel 2007 dropping the 2nd degree factor from the trend line

label or is Excel 2007 refusing to do a quadratic fit because it thinks I do

not have enough data points? Another feature, right?

How can I make Excel accept a time value formatted as 9:00:00 in the Axis Dialog box so I don’t have to determine the decimal time value?

I select time values in column B from 9:00:00 to 11:00:00 and then select corresponding data in column D. Click Insert=>Scatter. I want the chart category axis to begin at the time 9:00:00, the first data point that was in my column B selection, but Excel 2007 uses displays the scatter chart category minimum value of 00:00:00. I then click right click category axis and select format axis. In the AXIS Dialog box I Fixed to the right of the word Minimum. I know the time I want to enter but Excel 2007 will not accept the time format as 9:00:00 so I have to go to the spreadsheet with the data and select the cell with the time 9:00:00 and right click and select Format Cells then select General under Category so I can read (memorize) the time in Excel number format.

I need to determine the slope of this line as if the scales were linear (even though they are actually logarithmic).

Please help, thanks!

When I hover over a line on a scatter chart in Excel 2007, I see incorrect inormation about the nearest data point.

I believe that this only occurs when I set the Min and Max scales for the chart.

If I save the workbook to 2003 format and open in Excel 2003, the data point information is correct.

I have to create a chart XY Scatter plot in excel. I have to differentiate the data points color based on the another column "category". Now I can change the data points color manually. Since the number of points is huge, is it possible to color the data points based on a column?

Thanks,

Iswaria

do this. All you can do is make 3-D charts over two dimensions, you cannot

make 3-D plots over three dimensions. There's the surface plot, but that

only plots x and y along with the series. I want to plot true x, y, and z.

like a simple task, but I haven't been able to find much on it. Anyways, I

I tried to make a scatter plot in Excel. The issue is that there are

repeated data points.

For example,

(x,y) style (1,3.4), (2,5.5), (2,5.5), (3, 9.9), (3,9.9), (4,23.0)...

Can I add a related frequency number around the corresponding data

point?

Thank you for your help!

XYZ plotting based on data in Excel? I have seen previous posts asking

the same thing that were dated around 2002. I have Excel 2003, but I

still don't believe that capability exists. If there are free packages

that would do it, without spending a lot of $ on a package for just
