3Axis Multiple groups with subgroup Bar Chart please help!

I am doing some science work and I really need a chart that looks like this.

Can someone please please tell me how the hell do I do it. An example worksheet would be excellent! I have gone through hell trying to figure it out with my primitive excel knowledge.

should show the drug groups on the x-axis with the sample names
directly on the bar itself. Just to complicate this a little further,
I would also like to plot a min and max line for each drug group on

I have a table looking more or less like the example below

My problem is that I want to create a stacked bar per period and per area. One part of the stacked bar should be related to product 1 and the other to product 2.

When I try to select stacked bar as the chart type, 1 stacked bar is created for the whole period... BUT I need a split per area and per period.

Who can help me with this?? Please help me, it is urgent...

Is there any way in excel 2010 to combine a regular chart and stacked bar chart? I had puzzlled few days on this and I am left wioth no answer. I had googled around but did not find a good solution. One solution is given here but that is not a better solution for me. Is there anyone who can provide some thoughts on this?

I am trying to create a single bar chart with 2 sets of data, but as one set of data ranges from 0 to 5000, and one set of data ranges from 0 to 40, I have used 2 axis. This is fine with a bar chart and a line, but if I choose both data series to be bar charts, they appear over the top of each other. Is there any way to make the bars appear next to each other instead?

I have a spread sheet with multiple tabs that consist of charts displaying tables of data. I currently have three specific charts. One tracks performance of a sector of the company based on sales figures. The next chart tracks a given division within that sector and compares day by day performance this month to day by day performance last month. I have two of these comparison charts, one for each division within my sector.

What I'd like to do is have a single spreadsheet, or 'front end' if you will, where a user can open the spreadsheet and select from a drop down box which chart they'd like to view and upon selecting which they'd like to view the graph on the sheet will populate with the selected data. I also should note that it will require one chart to be a line graph and the other two to be bar graphs.

How would I go about making this happen.

I am using Excel 2000
I want to create a chart that compares our monthly Sales goal with the sales
by catergory. Ex: $100,000 sales goal (1 bar on the graph) We sell up of 4
different products; prod a, b, c and d. The product sales $$ (ex: A =
25,000; B = 20,000; C = 10,000 and D = 5,000) would be in a stacked bar so as
to see how close we are to our total sales goal. Sold $60,000 compared to
our goal of $100,000. I thought I would need to have 2 axises; one for the
goal and one for the actual sales bars, but I can not figure out how to do
this with a bar graph. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would
really appreciate any help I can get.

I am enclosing an excel file. In this file is "data" to be used to make the plot.

I am also enclosing drawing of what i wanted the plot to look like. I have tried a few things but cant seem to make it work.

If i need to re-arrange any of the data......that is not a problem........just let me know. What ever we have to change to make the plot just let mw know.

Plot description (but please take a look at the drawing in the enclosed file as well).
The plot has bar-charts stacked and line-charts. The bar chart is on the primary axis and the line is on the secondary axis.

On the x-axis i have the following:
For each month i show (Overall,QBD, and QVC). Under each (Overall,QBC, and QVC) there are two columsn of data which need to be stacked (see enclosed pic).

Hi, I need help with a stacked bar chart with negative figures.

I can't give you specific details on what it's for, but the scenario is something like this

We are given a budget to work around. Thus, we allocated the budget around as we saw fit.(Hypothetically, let's say category 1 uses $1000, category 2 uses $2000, and category 3 uses $3000).

However, we found out we used more in some areas, and less in others (Hypothetically, category 1 uses $1250, category 2 uses $1500, and category 3 uses $3500).

My boss wants me to find out the discrpency between the amount originally planned and the amount that is actually been used, broken down for each individual section (Which mean that, hypothetically, category 1 has +$250, category 2 has -$500, and category 3 has +$500).

Now, he wants me to combine all the data into a single chart. For those with purely positive numbers, it is easy enough, but for those with negative numbers, the graph didn't work out how I imagined it to be.

My plan was to put the original planned amount and the discrepency in the primary axis and the actual amount used in the secondary axis(with an invisible fill but a thick border to indicate the amount actually used). Thus, if the actual amount is more than the planned amount, it would appear such that the border envelops both the planned amount and the discrepency, but if the actual amount is less than the planned amount, the border would only cover a portion of the planned amount, with the discrepency being tacked on where the border left off.

Is there any way to create the chart in the way that I had imagined? If not, is there a system that could give me the same effect? I tried looking at a waterfall chart, but it appears that I need a lot of graphs, one for each different category, and my boss does not want that.

Please help, I am having difficulty with Stacked Bar charts. I am trying to do a gantt chart.

I have 5 columns on my spread sheet these are:
Tasks - Text
start date - date format
end date - date format
days completed - numbers
days remaining - numbers

Now I can start a stacked bar chart by selecting the first and second columns.
I then right click on the chart choose select data
now, if I then add series which seems the logical thing to do, the whole chart is totally reformatted with dates at the bottom ranging from 00/01/1901 to 15/03/2023, and all the bars are the same colour and the same length.

What am I doing wrong. If you need me to post more info I can. I have been struggling with this now for nearly 4 hours, how do you do this?

I have been following a tutorial and downloaded his example, and it behaves how I would expect it to. I tried just putting my data into his example, but that doesn't work either. Can any one help me with please?

hi all,
i am making a gant chart, with stacked bar chart (using hidden series).
x axis (bottom) is date, y axis (left) is task name (ie category axis).
i have overlayed an xy scatter (i had an extra column giving the
vertical coordinates for the scatter, 0.5 1.5 etc, y coordinates are
dates) , which has worked fine when i had 4 categories.
however, when i include all needed categories (28), the secondary y
axis (right) disappears, and the scaling changes so that the vertical
alignment of the xy points is misaligned.
i have tried everything to show the secondary y axis so i can change
scale, but no luck - any ideas please.

I'm working with one bar chart with two sets of data. I've set up a secondary value axis, and now all I need to do is get the bars next to each other instead of overlapping each other. I've attached my example.

i am currently building a stacked bar chart, it is based over a 24hr period from midnight to midnight, this is working fine however i was wondering if there was a way to have the bars have different textures in the same series if the value of a cell is true??

eg if u1=AL i want a the bar to be stripped
if u1=ON i want the bar to be a solid fill

any help or ideas would be appreciated

I am creating a bar chart and want multiple data labels. One to display the value inside the end of the bar, the other to display a % off a baseline number outside the bar.

Starting with a spreadsheet full of data. In Column "A" contains the "production line" , column "B" contains the "production date", Column "C" contains the "Product" and column "D" contains the response data.

Is it possible to use "defined names" to create multiple groups which could be graphed? (Defined Range?)
If not, is there another way to do the same thing? It is possible to use countifs to set the same criteria...

Group 1 - Column A = "Line 1", Column B > "January 1, 2012", Column C = "Widget1"
Group 2 - Column A = "Line 3", Column B > "January 1, 2012", Column C = "Widget1"
Group 3 - Column A = "Line 1", Column B > "January 1, 2012", Column C = "Widget2"
Group 4 - Column A = "Line 4", Column B > "January 1, 2012", Column C = "Widget2"
Group 5 - Column A = "Line 1", Column B > "January 1, 2012", Column C = "Widget5"

With column bar charts, you can plot a second series with a line graph (minus the line) to show markers on top of the bars (for example you might want to show say 2005 figures on the bars and have the markers showing the corresponding 2000 value). However, is is possible to do something similar and add markers to the equivalent horizontal bar chart?

I have created a menu bar and would like for it to show up in the chart
sheets too. Below is the code for my menu. I'm not sure how to revise it
to also create a "Chart Menu Bar". When I close the workbook this menu is
deleted. I'm not sure if the sub Proceedure to delete the menu should also

A coworker put together a work book for reporting. All I have to do is enter
figures in 3 or 4 fields on one sheet and the bar chart is supposed to pop up
on the second sheet. We are tracking several programs and each program has a
data input page and then the "pretty" chart page. On some of the charts,
they come out just fine. But there are 2 (and 1/2 of a 3rd - it's only a
little bit wrong) charts that are showing the total amount in 1 color instead
of the 3-4 colors that it should be showing.
I would like to think that I am exceedingly proficient in Excel (and, truth
be told, I don't think said coworker *really* knows what they're doing ...),
but I have never seen a problem like this.
I have been all over it, ever which way I can think of, but I have no idea
how to fix it.
Any ideas?

I'm working on a project and using an Excel Chart for the first time.

I need the numbers on the X axis to reflect specific numbers (1.1, 1.2, 1.3,
1.4, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, etc.) for a total
of 26 different numbers. I cannot change them, and have tried looking up
"relabel x axis", "name x axis" etc. Nothing seems to work.

All that I can get it to do is go from 1.0 to 26.0 - I can't figure out how
to customize the numbers displayed in the x axis of my chart. Can someone
please help me with this? I've spent hours trying to work it out and can't do
it alone.

I am creating 20 individualized reports for students, using Word 2007. One page of the report is a bar chart that reports the student's individual scores on four different tests, alongside the respective bars that indicates the class average for that test. I know how to the class averages for each of the four tests.

Here's my quesition: how do I mail-merge the student's individual scores from each of the four tests onto the respective bar? Thus, I want to produce 20 different reports, with the bar chart showing four different scores that are customized for each particular student's report.

I already know how to mail-merge data from Excel onto a Word document. But I do not know how to merge data onto a specific bar in a bar chart.

This what I typed (I used a example).

Everything is going right, till the last sentence. I already checked it with other codes (like C7 and C8 --> A61 etc) but it gives an error and the OR is highlighted. The other sentences I copied from another cell, when I type something it goes wrong.

Can you please help me?
